Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have ended IPL 2026 on a high note by winning their second consecutive title against Gujarat Titans on May 31. But RCB's celebrations following the win have landed some of its players in controversy once again.
In a recent viral video, Phil Salt and Tim David have created another controversy with their celebrations.
Tim David's IPL 2026 Controversies And Disciplinary Action
Tim David's IPL 2026 campaign was filled with controversies and disciplinary issues. The Australian power-hitter accumulated five demerit points through three separate offences during the tournament, resulting in an automatic one-match suspension for the opening game of IPL 2027.
The most serious incident occurred during the IPL 2026 final against Gujarat Titans. Tim David was fined 50% of his match fee and handed two demerit points after throwing an ice bag aggressively in the direction of on-field umpire Nitin Menon.
The incident took place during Gujarat Titans’ innings following a controversial DRS review. The BCCI found him guilty of breaching Article 2.9 of the IPL Code of Conduct.
This deals with throwing objects in an inappropriate or dangerous manner towards players, officials or other individuals.

Earlier in the season, David was fined 25% of his match fee and received one demerit point for allegedly ignoring umpire instructions regarding a ball change during a match against Mumbai Indians.
In another incident involving MI, television cameras captured Tim David making an offensive gesture from the dugout after RCB’s victory. The act resulted in a 30% match-fee fine and two additional demerit points.
Apart from on-field controversies, social media was also flooded with discussions about a photo and video that allegedly showed Tim David smoking during RCB’s title celebrations.
Following the IPL final, David was also seen playfully interacting with the BCCI’s AI-powered robotic camera, Champak. During the celebrations, he jokingly attempted to scare the robot by pretending to kick it.

Now, another video has been added to the controversy. In the clip online, Phil Salt can be seen sitting on Tim David's shoulders while holding the IPL trophy. Both players appeared to be making the middle finger gesture as teammates celebrated around them.
The video went viral, attracting strong reactions from fans.

Despite the controversies, RCB's season will be remembered for its remarkable success. Virat Kohli played a match-winning knock of 75 not out off just 42 balls in the IPL 2026 final against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad.
Chasing a target of 156, Kohli anchored the innings brilliantly and remained unbeaten till the end. His innings helped RCB secure a comfortable victory and their second straight IPL championship. Battling through injury, he also registered the fastest half-century of his IPL career.
Earlier, RCB’s bowlers laid the foundation for the win by restricting Gujarat Titans to 155/8. Rasikh Salam Dar picked up three wickets, while Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar claimed two wickets each.
