New Zealand pacer, Jacob Duffy has given a warning to young Vaibhav Sooryavanshi that the upcoming tour could prove to be challenging for the 15-year-old sensation. Sooryavanshi will play for the first time on New Zealand shores, and Duffy, who has played against him in the IPL, has given a warning signal.

Sooryavanshi was unused in the recently concluded West Indies T20I, but nonetheless, the spotlight will still be on him in the upcoming T20I matches against the Kiwis. Speaking to RevSportz, Duffy stated that his team have had scouting sessions on how to counter the Sooryavanshi threat, and the plan is ready.

Duffy's message for the 15-year-old Sooryavanshi

With the youngster embarking on his first tour of New Zealand, the right-arm pacer believes he could find it tough adjusting to the pace and bounce of the surface, and here’s what he said:

“So that’s obviously his first time, is it? I’m not sure, outside of India, potentially, he might have played in England,” Duffy added. “So conditions will be a little bit different for him, so that’s obviously one thing for him to be challenged with. But we’ve certainly had a good scouting session on him and certainly got our plans as to what we’re going to do to him.”

A similar warning to the Indian youngster was given by Harry Brook before the England tour, and the opener couldn’t do much on his maiden assignment as England did their homework against him.

What happened the last time Sooryavashi played an away T20I series

Interestingly, the 15-year-old prodigy has played 8 T20I games, and all have come in overseas conditions as he has yet to make his debut in Indian conditions.

He made his debut against England, and his debut series didn’t go according to plans as the English side had their plans ready against him, and he could only score 42 runs in three matches.

However, in his full-fledged last away tour, which was against the Zimbabwe side, Sooryavanshi brought his A game, as he tore down the Zimbabwean attack, and scored 151 runs in three matches, with a strike rate of 196, including two fifties.

Hence, the teenager can take inspiration from his last away tour (Zimbabwe), and can still play an important role against New Zealand in the T20Is.
