Rajasthan Royals have got off to a perfect start in IPL 2026 with four wins in four games. However, the Riyan Parag-led side have landed in major controversy following manager Romi Bhinder using a cell-phone in the dug-out against RCB with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi by his side.

The fans noticed RR manager using a mobile phone in the dug-out against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and quickly circulated the video on social media. Notably, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was also caught peeping into the phone, which put him in trouble as well.

Days after the controversy, the issue has finally reached BCCI, and in the latest events, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia has reacted to the incident, stating whether Romi Bhinder and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will be fined for the upcoming match against SRH on Monday, April 13.

RR Manager Likely To Face BCCI’s Action

As mentioned above, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, speaking to The Times of India, stated that the board has not issued any fine for the RR manager. However, Romi Bhinder might not go unpunished. He stated that the intentions might not be wrong, but the board will inspect the video and will make a decision in a few days.

"Certain individuals are allowed to carry phones in the dugout, and Romi Bhinder, as a manager, can carry it. But we need to thoroughly examine where exactly to conduct an internal examination before reaching a logical conclusion,' Saikia tells Timesoflndia.com

“As I said, we will examine it. We can't act on what is being said. We will see the pictures, video and whatever we can get before reaching to the conclusion," Saikia added.

Will Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Be Fined For RR Manager's Action?

Notably, Saikia didn’t mention Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, and he is unlikely to be punished or banned in IPL 2026. Primarily, it was RR manager Romi Bhinder's fault and the 15-year-old is unlikely to be fined.

However, on the other hand, Sahil Malhotra from Times of India stated that the board is still investigating the matter and Sooryavanshi is not 100% cleared at this moment. The board might announce a harsh punishment for Romi Bhinder and little fine for the 15-year-old.

IPL Rules Explained For Carrying Phones In Ground

According to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), there are strict rules regarding electronic devices during matches. These rules are part of the “Minimum Standards for Players and Match Officials Areas” (PMOA).

Firstly, mobile phones and other communication devices are generally not allowed in these restricted areas. However, there are a few exceptions. For example, the team manager is allowed to use a phone inside the dressing room, but not in the dugout.

Secondly, analysts are permitted to use computers, but only at a designated analyst table. Furthermore, players and support staff must switch off their devices and hand them over for safe storage when they arrive at the stadium.
