Currently representing the Nepal Police Club in the ongoing Men’s PM Cup 2026 in Nepal, the cricketer recently took to social media and wrote “If any player beats an umpire mistakenly, how many matches would he be banned for? Just for query?”

Karan KC’s remarks drew sharp criticism from the Cricket Umpires association in Nepal, with several officials urging the board to take an action against him. The affected individuals also believed that the star all-rounder had “undermined” the professionalism and dignity of match officials.

Growing dissatisfaction among Nepal players with umpires

Notably, the entire Karan KC umpiring saga broke out in Nepal where there is already a growing discontent among players over umpiring decisions, especially in domestic cricket tournaments in the country.

Not long ago, ace spinner Sandeep Lamichhane was also involved in an on-field dispute during a PM Cup 2026 match.

Karan KC, a veteran of 65 ODIs and 88 T20I matches, is a regular member in the Nepal national playing XI in both white-ball formats. The experienced all-rounder also toured India for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup a couple of months ago.

Currently representing the Nepal Police Club in the Men’s PM 50-overs Cup 2026 in the country, the cricketer has so far scored 64 runs in the tournament, and picked up nine wickets in the process.

In his latest appearance against the Karnali Province, Karan punched out a quick 21* and snared match-winning bowling figures of 3-29 with the new ball.

However, his latest social media post prompted the team management to exclude him from the team’s playing XI against the Sudur Paschim Province on Sunday, April 12. The match was hosted by the Ramjanki Multipurpose Stadium in Janakpur.

In his absence, the Nepal Police Club succumbed to a huge 56-run defeat, despite chasing just 192 runs. They bundled out for 135 in 35.1 overs in response, to register their third defeat in the tournament from eight matches after securing four wins.
