India's batting sensation, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, extended his dream run in the IPL 2026, as he blazed his way through to a belligerent half-century in the Rajasthan Royals' recent encounter against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Chasing a daunting 202-run target, the Royals lost their in-form batter Yashasvi Jaiswal early in the innings.
However, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi decimated the RCB bowling attack with sheer aggression, powering his side to a thumping win in the high-scoring face-off. His power-packed 26-ball 78 ensured the Royals maintained a dominant four-match winning streak in the competition.
While Sooryavanshi earned massive accolades for his batting effort, the RR youngster sparked controversy when he was caught staring at the mobile phone of the Royals' team manager, Romi Bhinder.
As the controversial incident continues to grab the attention, IPL founder Lalit Modi has demanded a thorough investigation into the matter.
RR manager caught using mobile; Vaibhav Sooryavanshi linked to major controversy
The incident occurred during the eleventh over of Rajasthan Royals' run chase. Soon after being dismissed by Krunal Pandya, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was sitting in the RR dugout alongside the Royals' team manager, Romi Bhinder.
The BCCI policy strictly prohibits the players as well as the support staff from using mobile phones during the live match.

Therefore, the act by the RR manager got him into negative limelight, and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's name was automatically embroiled in the controversy as he was having a sneak peek into the electronic gadget.
Thus, regardless of their intentions, the Royals' duo sparked a major controversy. While critics slammed the team manager, IPL founder Lalit Modi broke his silence, urging the BCCI to take strict action.
Lalit Modi demands probe
IPL founder Lalit Modi has been residing in the UK since being declared a fugitive by the Indian authorities. However, he has been vocal on social media since the IPL 2026 commenced.
The suspicious act by the RR team manager didn't go unnoticed by the IPL founder, as he demanded a thorough investigation into the matter. Modi suspected corrupt activities, urging the BCCI anti-corruption unit to look into the incident.
"This is COMPLETELY A NO NO. WHERE WAS ANTI CORRUPTION," Lalit Modi posted on X.
What does the BCCI rule say?
According to the BCCI rulebook, the players and support staff of the IPL teams can't use their mobile phones in certain restricted areas, such as the team dugout. Thus, the RR manager violated the BCCI protocol and might be sanctioned for his casual act.
As revealed by TOI, the Royals' team manager might be summoned by the match referee as well as the BCCI anti-corruption unit for breaching the PMOA protocol.
Rajasthan Royals' dark past with spot fixing
The inaugural IPL champions Rajasthan Royals have a forgettable past with controversial incidents such as spot fixing.
In 2013, three RR players- Ankit Chavan, Ajit Chandila and S Sreesanth were suspended from all forms of cricket after the anti-corruption department found them guilty of spot fixing.
Therefore, even if the RR manager's intentions weren't malicious, he could be thoroughly questioned by the anti-corruption unit, with the BCCI adopting stricter policies against illegal activities post the infamous fixing scandals that rocked IPL 2013.
