Veteran Bangladesh cricketer Mushfiqur Rahim was massively affected due to the rapid US military attack on Iran, done by Israel. The 38-year-old, who won the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) three times in January this year, courtesy of Israel and the US’s brutal attack on Iran on Saturday.

Rahim went to Saudi Arabia during the holy month of Ramadan to perform Umrah. He completed the pilgrimage in Makkah and was supposed to return to Bangladesh on Saturday morning. However, his Emirates flight from Abu Dhabi to Dhaka was disrupted due to changes in Gulf region flight services, and thus, he was sent back to Jeddah, the place from which he came to Abu Dhabi for Bangladesh travel.

On Facebook, Mushfiqur Rahim could not resist sharing what had happened to him. He explained the whole situation, and even mentioned the details of the flight, via which he was supposed to travel.

"Assalamualaikum all..I came to macca for the umrah hajj couple of days back…Alhamdulillah had finish my hajj and heading back to Bangladesh via Dubai ( emirates) today..we have flown this morning from jeddah to dubai via EK 0806 but unfortunately due to the war between USA , ISRAEL AND IRAN all the flight has return to Jeddah and now i am in jeddah airpot including thoushand of passengers…Only Almighty Allah knows when and how we will able to go to Dhaka along with other Bangladeshi people," Mushfiqur Rahim said on Facebook.

Having played 100 Tests, Mushfiqur Rahim has become a household name in Bangladesh and across the cricket world. He averages 38.75 in red-ball cricket, while his 7,795 ODI runs across 256 outings and 1,500 T20I runs in 93 innings speak volumes about his career and pedigree.

Jonny Bairstow Hits The Panic Button

Jonny Bairstow is another cricket player who has been deeply affected by the current Middle East situation, particularly the Israel-Iran war. He, along with Andrew Flintoff, who were all in Dubai as England Lions to face Pakistan Shaheens, was struck there due to sudden flight cancellations.

"@emirates we haven’t had any communication post flight getting cancelled. Tried the lines of communication but nothing. Could someone please be in contact," Bairstow tweeted.

Furthermore, Bairstow even replied to a tweet by the England Prime Minister Keir Starmer. “Can you get us home?” Bairstow wrote, giving everyone an indication of his fear amid a crunch geopolitical situation.

The ICC, too, acknowledged the current situation in the Middle East and assured every fan that it is closely monitoring what is happening there. In addition, they also made sure the T20 World Cup will take place without any disruptions, and all the concerns regarding logistical, and travel-related issues will be taken care of.
