India continued to dominate the ongoing one-off Test against Afghanistan at the Mullanpur Stadium in New Chandigarh. But one incident that grabbed attention on Day 2 was a light-hearted moment when Rishabh Pant recreated Rohit Sharma’s famous dialogue.

After winning the toss, India captain Shubman Gill chose to bat first. Although the hosts did not have the ideal start, the middle order stepped up and put India in a commanding position.

KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant all played important innings to keep Afghanistan under pressure.

KL Rahul And Sai Sudharsan Build Strong Foundation

India enjoyed an excellent opening day after posting 368/3 in 85 overs at stumps. KL Rahul and Sai Sudharsan laid the foundation with a brilliant 139-run partnership.

While Sudharsan narrowly missed out on a century and was dismissed for 81, KL Rahul completed his 12th Test hundred.

Captain Shubman Gill continued the good work with a magnificent innings of 126 from 177 balls. Apart from Yashasvi Jaiswal, every Indian batter made a meaningful contribution.

Afghanistan's bowlers worked hard in challenging conditions but struggled to maintain pressure in the final session of Day 1.

Their poor DRS decision also drew attention on Day 1, and similar blunders occurred on Day 2.

Rishabh Pant Brings Back Rohit Sharma’s Viral Dialogue

In the IND vs AFG Test, one of the most entertaining moments came during Day 2 of India’s innings. As Afghanistan bowler Ziaur Sharifi prepared to bowl, movement near the sightscreen appeared to distract Rishabh Pant.

The person causing the distraction was reportedly a BCCI photographer. Pant immediately expressed his frustration, and his words were picked up by the stump mic.

In a moment that reminded fans of Rohit Sharma's famous comment from 2024, Pant was heard saying, "Garden mein ghoom raha hai."

Rohit Sharma made a now-famous comment, “Koi garden mein nahi ghoomega”, during the second Test against England in Visakhapatnam in February 2024.

At that time, Rohit had been heard on the stump microphone urging his teammates to show more energy on the field. The comment became an instant fan favourite and was widely shared across social media platforms.

Rishabh Pant Departs After Valuable Knock

Rishabh Pant played a crucial role with the bat. The left-hander looked comfortable at the crease and built on India’s strong position with a controlled innings.

However, his stay at the crease ended on 81 runs. Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi produced a breakthrough with his off-spin.

Pant danced down the pitch looking for a big hit but failed to get to the pitch of the ball. The shot came off the outer half of the bat and was safely caught by Azmatullah Omarzai at long-off.

Earlier in the session, Saleem Safi had already delivered important breakthroughs for Afghanistan by dismissing Gill and Dhruv Jurel.

Safi completed a four-wicket haul and emerged as the visitors’ most successful bowler.
