In a recent viral clip surfacing on social media, a fan in Pakistan resembled India’s new T20I captain Shreyas Iyer. His eerie similarities with Iyer caught fans’ eyes as social media platforms were set ablaze.

For context, Pakistan hosted Australia in a three-game ODI series last week. After the first two games, the series was levelled at 1-1. However, in the series decider game held at the Lahore Stadium, the host team bounced back.

Shreyas Iyer lookalike spotted in Pakistan

Amid the intense competition, fans on social media spotted someone from the crowd who looked like Indian T20I captain Shreyas Iyer. The Pakistan fans were celebrating a boundary hit by Babar Azam in the second innings when the cameras captured Shreyas Iyer's Doppelgänger.

Instantly, the clip went viral on social media, with fans shocked at the resemblance of the Pakistan fan to Shreyas Iyer.

Watch the video below:

That being said, this isn’t the first time lookalikes have been spotted in cricket. In the past as well, doppelgangers of Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma have been spotted in the crowd.

Such videos often go viral on social media, bringing fame to fans who merely attended the game for entertainment and fun.

Pakistan beat Australia in the third ODI

Interestingly, Pakistan dominated the proceedings of the third ODI held at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. In the first innings, captain Shaheen Afridi picked 3 wickets for just 30 runs in 10 overs.

Abrar Ahmed also picked 2 wickets while conceding just 19 runs in 10 overs before Shadab Khan chipped in with two wickets. For Australia, only Josh Inglis showed resistance with 65 off 71 balls, but the team collapsed to just 157 runs.

In the chase, Babar Azam led the charge with 40 off 84 balls. Shadab Khan’s late contribution helped Pakistan accomplish the target in 41.5 overs to seal a dominant 4-wicket victory. With that, Pakistan also won the series 2-1.

Pakistan to tour the West Indies next

Meanwhile, for their next international assignment, Pakistan will travel to the West Indies for a 2-game Test series. The first Test will be played on July 25, while the second game will begin on August 2.

Hence, the men in green have enough rest time to prepare for the series. This period is crucial for Pakistan, as they recently got whitewashed in the 2-game Test series against Bangladesh.

With just a solitary victory in 4 Tests, Pakistan dropped to the 8th position on the WTC table. Also, according to reports, Shan Masood’s captaincy future is under serious threat.

It is unlikely that he will be given another opportunity to lead the side in the West Indies. But even if PCB decided to sack him, finding a long-term suitable alternative will be a different task altogether.
