Last year, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) broke their trophy drought, and they won their second successive IPL title in 2026 at Ahmedabad on Sunday evening. As the Rajat Patidar-led side posed with the trophy, Australian big-hitter Tim David was found pulling off an atrocious stunt.

On the night of the big final, the RCB bowlers came to the party, with Rasikh Salam Dar returning with 3/27. As GT were restricted for 155/8, the great Virat Kohli dished a special from his blade and scored an unbeaten 75 in the chase.

As the Chasemaster played a VK-esque knock, he was well aided by Tim David in the middle, after RCB lost wickets in a quick succession in the middle overs. The 41-run partnership for the fifth wicket may not be remembered for long time, but it was very crucial in contest of the game.

Tim David teases BCCI's mascot Champak

After the IPL 2026, the Australian and RCB star finisher, Tim David, was seen having a banter with the BCCI-introduced AI robot, Champak. As the team was posing with the silverware, David mockingly attempted to kick the robot, but only to scare it.

Equipped with mounted cameras and sensors, it was introduced to grab additional eyeballs. Meanwhile, Champak's main aim is to record unique pitch-side angles, which normal cameras and cameramen fail to capture.

When was Champak introduced by BCCI?

"Champak," BCCI’s official mascot, does not have a human birth date but was officially introduced to the public during the IPL 2025.

The IPL unveiled the AI-powered tech mascot as its entertainment and broadcasting feature, and its name was chosen via an online fan poll ahead of the previous season.

RCB level CSK, MI after winning IPL 2026

Rajat Patidar has brought his charm to the RCB since becoming the captain of the franchise ahead of the IPL 2025. His calm, calculated leadership, coupled with an astute backroom staff, changed the fortunes of the Bengaluru-based franchise.

Not only did Patidar break their 18-year-long drought in the IPL, but he also helped them win it in back-to-back seasons. With that, RCB have become the fourth-most successful IPL team, after CSK, MI and KKR.

Apart from RCB, only two other teams, Chennai and Mumbai, have won tournaments back-to-back. CSK did it in 2010 and 2011, while MI bagged silverwares in 2019 and 2020. The two most successful IPL teams also congratulated RCB for the same.

Interestingly, KKR had won two titles in a span of three years.

Writer's take on RCB's fate for IPL 2027

With the next mega auction set to be held ahead of IPL 2028, the current core of RCB players- comprising Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, Krunal Pandya, Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar- have a chance to script history by winning three on the trot.

Although no franchise has done so in the Indian extravaganza, Oval Invincibles (2023, 24, 25) in The Hundred have already achieved the unthinkable. With that calculation, it is also possible for Rajat Patidar & co., but the competition level in the IPL is a whole different gravy.
