Tilak Varma credits Gautam Gambhir for the win
In the post-match media interaction, Varma opened up on the run chase and credited Gautam Gambhir for the win.
“Just before today's game, I was talking with coach Gautam sir and Sitanshu Kotak sir. I was talking with both of them, and they said one thing that we all believe, and the whole of India believes in you. If you stay till the end, then you will win the game for us. So that's what was going through my mind. I wanted to take the game as deep as possible, and at the end of the day, again, what everyone has believed, I have done it. So I'm really proud of myself, remarked Tilak Varma.
For the unversed, Tilak Varma has been demoted to No. 5 from his usual No.3 slot. He is still adapting to his role as a finisher.

After the West Indies series, Tilak Varma had remarked that he is finding the change in position to be challenging and that he is working on it.
"It's not that easy to change the numbers from 3 to 5 and 6. It will be slightly challenging. But I have been working on that," Tilak said in the IND vs WI post-match press conference in Bengaluru.
Hopefully, the recent performance against New Zealand will help Tilak gain confidence in his new role. Interestingly, Tilak has remained unbeaten on 26 occassions while chasing and on all occassions, the Men in Blue have emerged victorious.
