Finn Allen, Daryl Mitchell complete a fine rely catch | PC- Screengrab
India’s chances in the chase of 181 runs are getting slimmer and slimmer. Nearly halfway through their innings, they have lost half their side, with Axar Patel the latest casualty.
Finn Allen plucked the catch out of thin air near the ropes before Daryl Mitchell completed a relay catch to send the Indian all-rounder back off the bowling of Mitchell Santner.
Finn Allen, Daryl Mitchell's miraculous rely catch stuns Axar Patel
During the IND vs NZ 2nd T20I at Christchurch, India are struggling big time in the chase. Mitchell Santner bagged two wickets in his second over, in the form of Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel, with the second being a classic Kiwi acrobatic fielding effort.
Axar Patel decided to take on his Kiwi counterpart by skipping down the track, although Santner outfoxed the Indian allrounder by shortening his length.
The ball was miscued down towards long-on, where Allen pulled off a stunning effort to grab it before it sailed over the ropes. However, he couldn't complete the catch, with Daryl Mitchell stepping in to take it and finish the job.

Later, Santner finished with figures of 4 for 21, including the wickets of Abhishek Sharma, Shreyas Iyer, Axar and Naman Dhir.
Mitchell Santner scripts history as India's frail middle order
The batting-heavy India batting order never got going in the chase at Christchurch.
The hero from the last match, Sanju Samson, played a sluggish 14 off 17 balls, while India’s experiment of playing Vaibhav Sooryavanshi at number 3 didn’t pay off.
The Men in Blue kept losing wickets at regular intervals, and Mitchell Santner didn't allow the Indian middle order to revive their innings. The left-arm spinner also became the first bowler with multiple T20I four-fers against India.
Nevertheless, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Tilak Varma are still in the middle, with India at 135/6 at the end of 17 runs, needing 46 runs off the last three overs.
