In recent times, Pakistan cricket has been hitting new lows almost every day, and sometimes their internal conflict has also grabbed attention. Former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed recently revealed that one particular player used to mastermind several dressing-room fights.
After retiring from international cricket, former skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed appeared on a talk show alongside ex-Pakistan star Wahab Riaz. While speaking on that show, he hilariously accused Riaz of being the fuel of the fights.
Sarfaraz reveals Wahab Riaz’s unknown side
In the last few years, Pakistan has faced a continuous struggle, with every ICC tournament ending in disappointment. Things didn’t change in the T20 World Cup 2026 as they made another shocking exit from the big stage. Beyond on-field failures, the team also grapples with frequent off-field issues.
Sometimes feuds between players catch the air, and even the conflict between the player and some seniors also grabs headlines. Every clash usually has one person who unintentionally sparks the tension, becoming the real trigger behind the dispute. For the Men in Green, that person, as jokingly claimed, happens to be Wahab Riaz.

It might sound unbelievable, but one of his former teammates exposed this unknown side to the cricket world. After hanging up his boots from international cricket, former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed appeared talk show with Wahab Riaz.
During the discussion, Sarfaraz humorously accused Wahab Riaz of being the unseen spark behind many dressing-room clashes. Adding to this, he also addressed the legendary bowler as the ‘phuppo’ of the team.
“Wahab ki quality yeh thi ke agar 5 log aapas mein baithe hon, to yeh unko larwa dega. Woh larte rahe ge aur unhein pata bhi nahi chale ga ke karwai isi ne daali hai. Yeh hamari team ki ‘phuppo’ tha,” he said.
Sarfaraz Ahmed’s exit marks the closing of a golden chapter in Pakistan cricket
Since the golden era of Pakistan cricket, the nation has witnessed several exceptional leaders, and Sarfaraz is certainly among the finest. The wicketkeeper-batter grabbed the attention in the domestic circuit and stormed into the national side.
In almost a two-decade-long career, Sarfaraz didn’t just play the game; he led the Men in Green to some amazing triumphs. In a 54-match Test career, he scored 3031 runs along with four hundreds and 21 fifties. Along with that, he played 117 ODIs and 61 T20I matches.
As a leader, the numbers speak volumes about the greatness of Sarfaraz Ahmed. He led the side in 100 international matches. Adding to that, under his captaincy, Pakistan secured the huge milestone of winning 11 consecutive T20I series.
The former skipper steps into a new chapter with Pakistan Cricket
Even before announcing his international retirement, he started his second innings with the Pakistan cricket. In November 2025, he was entrusted with mentoring the Pakistan A and Pakistan U-19 teams. Under his mentorship, the Pakistan U-19 side won the Asia Cup, beating their arch-rivals, India, by a massive 191-run margin.
Just a few times ago, PCB appointed him to their selection panel, handing him an even bigger responsibility. He is also the team director of the Quetta Gladiators in the PSL. Even after stepping away from the 22 yards, he continues to contribute significantly to the growth and betterment of Pakistan cricket.
