The IPL 2026 clash between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) became the talk of the town after a heated exchange between Sanju Samson and Heinrich Klaasen grabbed the spotlight.
However, Sanju Samson has recently made a bold move regarding this on-field exchange with Heinrich Klaasen. It is important to note that the match took place on May 18, and SRH won the game by 5 wickets and booked its place for the IPL 2026 playoffs.
What happened between Sanju Samson and Heinrich Klaasen?
The incident took place during the 15th over of SRH's chase of 181 runs. Klaasen was batting brilliantly and looked set to take the game away from CSK with a quickfire 47 off 26 balls.
Bowling for CSK, Noor Ahmad delivered a ball outside off stump. Klaasen attempted a big shot by moving down the track, but completely missed the delivery.
Sanju Samson collected the ball and removed the bails with lightning-fast glove work.
The on-field umpire immediately referred the decision upstairs as Klaasen's back foot appeared to move marginally above the ground. After several replays, the third umpire confirmed that Heinrich Klaasen was out of his crease when the bails were dislodged.
As soon as the he was given out, Samson celebrated and appeared to say something while turning towards Klaasen.
The SRH batter, clearly frustrated with the dismissal, responded angrily and walked towards the CSK huddle instead of heading directly back to the pavilion.

Klaasen seemed to exchange a few heated words with Samson, while other CSK players tried to calm the situation.

Sanju Samson has put an end to all the on-field fight with the star player by sharing a warm Instagram story featuring Klaasen. In the picture, both cricketers were seen smiling and hugging each other warmly.

CSK and SRH’s IPL 2026 performance so far
While SRH have already secured their place in the IPL 2026 playoffs, CSK remain in a difficult position after their recent defeat.
Led by explosive performances from Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen, SRH have emerged as one of the strongest teams this season.CSK, meanwhile, have struggled with inconsistency throughout the tournament.
Despite a few impressive wins, middle-order collapses, bowling issues and several injuries have hurt their campaign badly.
In their next match, CSK will next face Gujarat Titans on May 21 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in a must-win clash. SRH, on the other hand, will take on RCB on May 22 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
