The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is heading towards one of the biggest corruption punishments in its history after serious match-fixing allegations emerged during the BPL 2025 season.
The tournament, which featured several players, has come under intense scrutiny following an investigation by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
The probe revealed multiple suspicious incidents and has raised concerns about the integrity of the competition. With a detailed 900-page report now complete, the BCB is preparing to announce strict punishments for those found guilty.
Massive Investigation Uncovered By BCB
It is important to note that, according to the Daily Sun, the investigation into the corruption in the BPL 2025 season was conducted by a three-member committee, along with the BCB's Anti-Corruption Unit.
The entire team examined around 300 hours of audio recordings and interviewed several individuals, including players, coaches, and franchise officials.
After the investigation, more than 36 suspicious incidents were recorded during the season. These included unusual batting approaches, deliberate slow scoring and strange field placements.

Earlier in 2026, around 10 to 12 cricketers were 'red-flagged,' including several national team players and a few overseas names. Eight players were later removed from the 2026 auction list as a precautionary step.
BCB Ready To Announce Historic Punishments
The BCB is now preparing to take strict action based on the findings of the investigation. Officials have confirmed that the process has been completed and decisions will be announced soon under the guidelines of the ICC's anti-corruption code.
The integrity unit, led by experienced officials, has already taken preliminary steps by excluding suspicious players from the auction and limiting their involvement in league activities.
However, these were temporary measures, and formal punishments are expected to follow.
“We have completed the investigation and you will be informed about the decision in two or three days. The decision was taken as per the International Cricket Council code of conduct,” a BCB official confirmed to Daily Sun on Sunday.
What Action Can BCB Take?
If proven guilty, players and officials could face bans, fines, or even long-term suspensions from cricket. The BCB hopes that these actions will restore trust in the BPL, which has struggled with financial instability and repeated corruption allegations over the years.
With the investigation already done and dusted, it would be interesting to see what major punishment the BCB is planning to take against the players, officials and the franchise owners involved.
Pakistan Players In BPL
The fact that cannot be denied is that the Pakistan players have always been favourites in Bangladesh and BPL. Several players have played in the BPL.
Khawaja Nafay and Sufiyan Muqeem have played for the Chattogram Royals and the Rangpur Riders in the BPL.
Sahibzada Farhan, Mohammad Nawaz, and Jahandad Khan have played for Rajshahi Warriors. Among them, Sahibzada Farhan had a decent outing with the bat. He scored a total of 185 runs in 9 matches at an average of 20.55 and a strike rate of 118.58.
Meanwhile, Noakhali Express included fast bowler Ihsan Ullah Khan and Haider Ali in their squad.
BPL 2026 Also Involved In Controversy
The 2025–26 season of the BPL also faced a major disruption due to political tensions and unrest in Bangladesh.
At the centre of the issue was a dispute between Bangladesh cricketers and one of the directors of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, M Nazmul Islam. Several players were upset by his controversial remarks about Tamim Iqbal and by comments directed at other Bangladeshi players.
In response, cricketers threatened to boycott the BPL matches unless Nazmul Islam stepped down from his position.
As a result of the unrest and the players’ protest, two matches in the tournament were suspended. The first match was between Chattogram Royals and Noakhali Express, while the second was between Rajshahi Warriors and Sylhet Titans.
However, after discussions, the players decided to withdraw their boycott.
