Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan rained down on Namibia bowlers with a fiery 57-ball century in match number 35 of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Opening the innings alongside Saim Ayub at the SSC Ground in Colombo, Farhan clattered 11 fours and four huge sixes as Pakistan mounted 199-3 after winning the toss and opting to bat first.

The innings also marked Sahibzada Farhan’s first century in international cricket, and placed him in a rare Pakistani batting club in T20 World Cup history.

Sahibzada Farhan becomes second Pakistan player for a huge record

Pakistan run machine Sahibzada Farhan plundered 100* runs from just 58 balls with 11 cracking boundaries and four huge sixes against Namibia in Colombo on Wednesday, February 18. He reached the landmark figure in 57 deliveries during the final over of the Pakistan innings, before a fiery Shadab Khan finish ensured the ‘Men in Green’ charted a huge 199-3 in 20 overs.

Notably, Sahibzada Farhan has now become only the second Pakistan cricketer in history to notch up a century in a T20 World Cup game. He also became the first-ever Pakistani player to scale the triple-figure mark at the showpiece event in more than a decade.

Farhan has joined out-of-favor Ahmed Shehzad in an elite list as the only two Pakistani cricketers to have scored a T20 World Cup ton. Back in March 2014 in Mirpur, Shehzad tonked 111* runs from just 62 balls with 10 boundaries and five sixes against Bangladesh. At the time, the dynamic opening batter also bagged the ‘Player of the Match’ award as Pakistan walloped Bangladesh by 50 runs.

Pakistan goes big with the bat in must-win game

Pakistan captain Agha Salman won the toss and opted to bat first. Facing Namibia in their must-win Group A game of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, Pakistan openers Sahibzada Farhan and Saim Ayub started off with an attacking 40-run opening partnership in just five overs.

Captain Agha also scored a cracking 38 from just 23 balls during the middle overs of the innings. Shadab Khan went berserk at the death with his belligerent 22-ball 36* as Pakistan raced to 199-3, one of their highest totals in T20 World Cup matches.

While Namibia bowlers Gerhard Erasmus (1-25) and Jack Brassell (2-48) picked up three wickets between them, the bowling attack collectively failed to halt Sahibzada Farhan’s rampage in the afternoon.

Pakistan aims to recover after India drubbing

The Pakistan cricket team started off its 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup with wins over Netherlands and USA in successive games. However, the ‘Men in Green’ had their high-flying run halted by a strong Indian side in Colombo on February 15.

After getting blown away by an Ishan Kishan whirlwind, the Pakistani batters bundled out for just 114 in 18 overs to fall 61 runs short of their target. The defeat to India also made it imperative for the Pakistan team to defeat Namibia in their final Group A match of the tournament.
