India women have an unbeaten record in Test cricket in England against the England women’s team. Before the ongoing test, the two sides had clashed in 9 matches, and India had won two of those matches, and 9 games ended in a draw.

Tendulkar unexpectedly stopped by Lord's and made time to speak with the Indian women's squad, according to Sky Sports.

Kranti Gaud gives India a huge advantage in the first innings

After winning the toss, Nat Sciver-Brunt, the captain of England, decided to bowl first. India scored 285 runs in the first innings owing to Smriti Mandhana's 83 and half-centuries from Harmanpreet Kaur (58) and Deepti Sharma (57).

Jemimah Rodrigues also made 35, while for England, Sophie Ecclestone picked three wickets, and Lauren Filer, Issy Wong, and Mady Villiers took two wickets apiece.

Only Amy Jones (52) and Sciver-Brunt (44) were able to endure some excellent Indian bowling as England scored 170 runs in the first innings, while Kranti Gaud wreaked havoc in the England camp by taking 5/37. Sayali Satghare and Sneh Rana picked two wickets each as well.

Yastika Bhatia puts India's women on the path of a historic win

India women achieved a lead of 115 runs on a first-innings basis and needed someone to take advantage of the same. Smriti Mandhana made 70 runs and, along with Shafali Verma’s 33, gave India women a good start with an 88-run partnership.

But it was Yastika Bhatia, who became the first women’s cricketer to score a Test hundred at Lord’s and made 113 with 14 fours. Richa Ghosh provided some late-overs flourish with 50* in 52 balls as India declared their second innings at 341/7 and set England 457 runs to win. Sophie Ecclestone added five more wickets to her three-wicket haul in the first innings.

Kranti Gaud, Sayali Satghare, and Sneh Rana dominated England batters in their chase as they were reduced to 59/5. Amy Jones made 54, while Mady Villiers made 28 as England ended day three on 130/6 in the chase of the 457-run target. Sneh Rana picked three wickets for India.
