Rohit Sharma is suffering from an injury concern amid the ongoing IPL 2026 season. Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya has been slapped with a fine by the BCCI. In other news, CSA has named the entire South Africa Women squad for the series against India.

Capping an eventful day in the world of cricket, here we take a look at five of the biggest cricketing news that emerged out of Monday, April 13.

Rohit Sharma likely to miss Mumbai Indians matches

Rohit Sharma will likely be ruled out of Mumbai Indians’ upcoming matches of the IPL 2026 season. The legendary opening batter retired himself out for just 19 from 13 balls against the RCB in match 20 of the tournament on April 12 in Mumbai.

The cricketer sustained a hamstring injury, and looked scratchy on the field to some extent. According to reports, the former Mumbai Indians captain will undergo scans before the team management can take a final call.

BCCI makes changes in IPL 2026 schedule; Titans and CSK affected

The BCCI has made a slight change in the official schedule of the IPL 2026 season. The afternoon match, set to be played between CSK and hosts Gujarat Titans on April 26 at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, will now be played at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai on the same day owing to municipal corporation elections in various parts of Gujarat.

Meanwhile, the reverse fixture between the two sides on May 21 will now be played in Ahmedabad instead of Chennai.

Hardik Pandya, Tim David penalised for code of conduct breach

RCB batter Tim David was fined 25 percent of his match fees by the BCCI, and the hard-hitting Australian cricketer also garnered one demerit point for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct for players and team officials in match 20 of the IPL 2026 season against the Mumbai Indians.

In the same match, Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya was also fined Rs. 12 lakhs by the board, albeit for maintaining a slow over-rate in the game.

Abhishek Sharma attains unwanted duck record in IPL 2026

SRH opener Abhishek Sharma got dismissed for a first-ball duck by Rajasthan Royals paceman Jofra Archer. The blistering left-hander, who also endured an underwhelming T20 World Cup 2026 before the final, has now registered seven ducks in T20 matches in the year 2026 so far.

Abhishek has now attained an unwanted record of securing most T20 ducks in a single calendar year among all India openers, surpassing the likes of Rohit Sharma (six in 2018) and Sanju Samson (six in 2024).

South Africa Women squad named for India series

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has named South Africa’s entire 15-player squad for the upcoming five-match home T20I series against India Women. Star opener Laura Wolvaardt will continue to lead the side as the Proteas gear up to play their final T20I fixtures before the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.

The selectors included one uncapped player in the squad in the form of Tebogo Macheke. Senior all-rounder Marizanne Kapp was still unavailable for selection.
