The T20 World Cup 2026 has now moved on to the knockout stage after the completion of the Super 8 phase, with four teams, India, New Zealand, England and South Africa, progressing to the much-anticipated semi-finals. Unfortunately, teams like Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe and Pakistan had an early exit from the prestigious ICC tournament.

While Salman Agha, the skipper of the Men in Green, had to bow out of the event, the financial aspect was not something the team could ignore. Thanks to the International Cricket Council's performance-based payout structure, Pakistan is set to receive a massive deposit despite an early exit ahead of the all-important stage of the tournament.

Pakistan’s Unfortunate T20 World Cup 2026 Exit

The Men in Green had a pretty solid run in the T20 World Cup 2026 group stage, where they were beaten in only one game, that too against India. However, that did not obstruct their promotion to the Super 8 stage, where their first match was unfortunately abandoned against New Zealand, with one point distributed to both teams.

In the next match against England, the Men in Green suffered a heavy defeat that almost knocked them out of the tournament. However, New Zealand’s loss to England kept their hopes alive.

Eventually, Sri Lanka, while chasing Pakistan's mammoth target of 213, obliterated any chance of the Men in Green qualifying for the semis through a net run rate blow. New Zealand progressed due to their superior run rate, and the Green jerseys was eventually knocked out of the tournament.

The Men in Green Earn Massive Prize Money

Nevertheless, the Pakistan National Cricket Team is set to secure over $507,000 despite the exit. Despite failing to reach the semi-finals, Salman Agha and company have received a total payout of approximately $507,116, which is around Rs 4.63 crore in Indian rupees.

A massive chunk of this revenue comes from the team's Super 8 qualification, where under the current ICC prize pool, teams finishing between 5th and 8th place receive a guaranteed $382,500 (approximately Rs 3.49 crore).

This amount was added to Salman Agha & Co.'s on-field performance earnings, as the tournament guarantees a $31,154 bonus (an estimated Rs 28.48 lakh INR) for every victory during the group and Super 8 stages. Hence, Pakistan's three wins in the opening round and their one win in the Super 8 stage brought them an additional $124,616.

While the mammoth figure the team is bringing back home seems fair enough, it pales in comparison to the amount the T20 World Cup 2026 winners will receive. The champions of this edition are projected to take home a massive $3 million, which is approximately Rs 27.4 crore, underlining the vast gap between an early exit and lifting the trophy this season.

World Cup Moves Towards The Semi-Finals

While the Men in Green have exited the tournament, the grand celebration of cricket continues, with India concluding the Super 8 stage with a massive win over West Indies at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

The clash, highlighted by Sanju Samson's unbeaten 97, has now placed them in the semi-finals alongside England, with the two sides set to face each other at the Wankhede Stadium on March 5.

The first semi-final will be played between New Zealand and South Africa, and the winners of both matches will meet for the final showdown at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 8.
