Rajasthan Royals secured a much-needed victory in the IPL 2026 as they defeated Lucknow Super Giants in the 64th match of the tournament. The win over LSG helped RR earn crucial two points and move up to fourth spot in the IPL points table.
Despite missing two of their senior players- Riyan Parag and Ravindra Jadeja- the Royals showcased remarkable skill and resilience, swatting aside the Super Giants under the leadership of Yashasvi Jaiswal.
However, although RR concluded the game on a winning note, an incident that grabbed the limelight was an intense conversation between Jaiswal and Jadeja during the first half of the contest.
Ravindra Jadeja caught schooling Yashasvi Jaiswal in the middle of RR Vs LSG match
The incident occurred during the twelfth over of LSG's innings when Mitchell Marsh was batting alongside Nicholas Pooran.
After winning the toss and electing to bowl first, the Royals had a disastrous start to the match, as Marsh and his opening partner Josh Inglis clobbered 109 runs in 8.1 overs. After Inglis was castled by Yash Punja, Pooran steadied the ship with Marsh, with the duo forming a quick-fire stand of 42 runs for the second wicket.

The partnership between Marsh and Pooran pushed RR on the back foot. As the game seemed to be slipping away from their hands, Yashasvi Jaiswal brought young pacer Sushant Mishra into the attack.
As RR's stand-in skipper stationed himself near the boundary, Ravindra Jadeja came running towards him and exchanged a few words.
Although the exact conversation between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ravindra Jadeja remained undisclosed, it was evident that he passed on some valuable tips to the youngster, who has little experience of captaining Rajasthan Royals in the IPL.
Jadeja is a veteran cricketer with ample experience, having been groomed under the guidance of the talismanic MS Dhoni during his IPL stint with Chennai Super Kings.
Therefore, with the Royals losing their grip over the game, Jadeja stepped in as a guiding force for Jaiswal despite not being a part of the RR playing XI vs LSG.
RR felt Ravindra Jadeja's absence in their bowling department
Rajasthan Royals' in-form pacer Jofra Archer had an off day against LSG. While the English pacer scalped a solitary wicket, the likes of Sandeep Sharma, Sushant Mishra and Brijesh Sharma went wicketless, registering a miserable economy of 12.09.
Thus, with their inexperienced bowling unit leaking runs, the Royals felt the absence of Ravindra Jadeja, who is known for his immaculate line and length.
Having said that, Rajasthan Royals had a comparatively smooth ride in the second half, as a scintillating 38-ball 93 from Vaibhav Sooryavanshi powered them to glory in the must-win fixture.
Rajasthan Royals to face Mumbai Indians in must-win game
Despite emerging victorious against LSG, Rajasthan Royals have yet to secure their berth in the IPL 2026 playoffs.
They are in a do-or-die situation and would be desperate to defeat Mumbai Indians and pip CSK, Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in the playoff race.
