The Pakistan Super League 2026, also known as PSL 11, will be the 11th edition of Pakistan’s premier T20 tournament organised by the PCB. This season is historic because the league has expanded from six teams to eight franchises after the addition of two new teams through an auction process.

The Mohsin Naqvi's PCB auctioned the rights for two new franchises. One of the teams was based in Hyderabad and was bought by the FKS Group for PKR 1.75 billion. The second franchise, Sialkot Stallionz, was purchased by the OZ Group for PKR 1.85 billion.

The 2026 season is scheduled to run from 26 March to 3 May 2026, slightly earlier than the previous edition, which took place between April and May. 

Matches will be played in several cities, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Karachi, Multan and Faisalabad.

Ahead of the tournament, the PSL 2026 schedule has been leaked online. According to reports by Mumtaz Shigri, a Pakistani journalist, the tournament will begin on 26 March in Lahore, with Lahore Qalandars playing against Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen. 

Lahore will also host the second match on 27 March between Quetta Gladiators and Karachi Kings.

During the opening phase, several matches will continue in Lahore and Rawalpindi, while Multan will host games from 1 April to 6 April.

The playoff stage of the PSL 2026 will begin with Qualifier 1 on May 2 in Rawalpindi, followed by Eliminator 1 on May 3 in Lahore and Eliminator 2 on May 5, also in Lahore. 

The tournament will conclude with the PSL 11 Final on 10 May in Lahore, where the two best teams will compete for the championship title.

It is important to mention that this year, as well, PSL will collide with IPL 2026. The much-awaited IPL in India will begin on March 28 or 29, and the final will be on May 31.

Drama Unfolds in PSL 11 Before Start of the Tournament

Just before the start of the PSL 2026, the tournament has witnessed unexpected drama off the field. Former champions Multan Sultans made a surprising return to the league after the newly created franchise Sialkot Stallionz was abolished and rebranded.

The rights of Multan Sultans were sold to a consortium led by Walee Technologies for PKR 2.45 billion. The association initially planned to rebrand the franchise as Rawalpindi.

The confusion around the Multan Sultans started after a dispute between the PCB and the franchise's previous owner, Ali Khan Tareen. Following disagreements over contract terms, Tareen chose not to renew his ownership, forcing the PCB to auction the team again.

In a sudden twist, the ownership structure changed. The Stallionz franchise was later acquired by new investors, and the team was officially renamed Multan Sultans.
