Prabhsimran Singh, the Punjab Kings star in the IPL and currently the leader of the Jalandhar Warriors in the Punjab T20 2026, has already been threatening Indian players with his meteoric knocks.
However, to add to his tally of talents, the wicketkeeper-batter has also given a solid example of his wits and captaincy skills in a recent match between Jalandhars and Ludhiana Lions.
Prabhsimran Singh led his team to a win in a last-over thriller while defending a target of 170 runs in Mohali on September 8.
How did Prabhsimran Singh orchestrate the last-ever thriller?
Prabhsimran has been ignored in the recently concluded Zimbabwe T20I series by India management despite his IPL 2026 heroics. However, his bat has been speaking in full flow in the Punjab T20 league as well. Besides hammering bowlers, Singh has now also given proof that he is one of the most talented skippers present in the tournament.
Jalandhar Warriors came in to bat first in the 19th match of the Punjab T20 2026, where the team piled up a total of 169 runs. Prabhsimran himself scored 39 runs, with notable contributions from Gourav Markan and Aryan Yadav, leading the team to a substantial total to defend.
However, that was not enough, as Ludhiana Lions came strongly into the chase. After losing two wickets inside the powerplay, the Lions continued their chase, where they needed 28 runs from 15 deliveries.
In T20 cricket, such a required run rate can meet its fate pretty soon, with power hitters ready to hammer the ball and construct the chase.

Prabhsimran trusted the young talent with the ball
However, Prabhsimran Singh showcased solid captaincy to orchestrate the final two overs of the match. The penultimate over was given to Emanjot Singh Chahal, who bowled pretty well, conceding just one six off the final delivery to Krish Bhagat, as the equation came down to 10 runs required from the last over.
Prabhsimran Singh then gave the ball to young talent Randeep Singh, who dismissed Aseem Kohli with the first ball of his over. Kohli had to go back after scoring 11 runs off six deliveries, having held the potential to finish the match.
The third ball of the over saw Randeep dismiss Havneet Singh for a duck, with singles being followed by a dot ball on the very last delivery of the over.
That gave away only three runs in the over, along with two wickets for Randeep Singh, eventually leading Jalandhar Warriors to a seven-wicket win.
With this win, Jalandhar Warriors are currently at the top of the table, having won four of their seven group-stage matches, while Ludhiana Lions currently sit at the bottom.
Randeep Singh is known for his heroics since his U19 days
Randeep Singh has been an exceptional talent for the team in the ongoing tournament. He has taken 6 wickets in 7 matches as an all-rounder while having a batting strike rate of 176.92.
He is a left-arm spinner and a decent lower-middle-order hitter born in a small village of Panjkosi in Punjab. Since his childhood, Randeep has taken a good interest in cricket and has played multiple local tournaments in his village, winning multiple player of the tournament awards.
He has also played U19 cricket for the Punjab Cricket Association, producing a heroic 122 with the bat against Mumbai when Punjab was down 90/5. Among his domestic exploits he has also been on the champions' side while featuring in the Mansa Premier League in Gujarat.
The left-handed batter has also showcased his talent later in the Panjkosi tournament in 2026 as well, after which he was picked in the Punjab T20 2026 for the price of INR 3.2 lakh.
His heroics in the last-over thriller of the Lions vs Warriors game earned him the Player of the Match award, as the young talent will be looking forward to exploring much bigger franchise cricket league in the upcoming 2027 season.
