Meanwhile, Bangladesh have announced their next home Test assignment. New Zealand batter Mark Chapman has made an important decision regarding his international future.

Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli's 2027 World Cup spots not guaranteed
BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla has admitted that there is no guarantee that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will be part of India’s squad for the 2027 ODI World Cup.
Speaking to Sports Yaari, Shukla said that the final decision regarding the veteran duo will rest with the selectors. However, he remained optimistic about their prospects, suggesting that both players still have plenty of cricket left in them.
“Only the selectors will decide that, but I feel Rohit and Kohli still have a lot of cricket left in them,” Shukla said. The two stalwarts have already retired from Tests and T20Is, leaving ODIs as their only remaining international format.
Bangladesh announce West Indies Test series
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has announced the schedule for a two-match home Test series against the West Indies, with the opening game set to begin on October 28 in Mirpur.
The second and final Test will be played in Sylhet from November 5 to 9, with the series forming part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship cycle. Bangladesh currently sit fourth in the nine-team standings.

The West Indies, meanwhile, are eighth after a difficult campaign in the current WTC cycle. The visitors will also play a three-day warm-up match from October 22 before facing Bangladesh in the Test series.
Afghanistan unveil massive Bangladesh, Zimbabwe schedule
Afghanistan have announced a packed international calendar featuring Bangladesh and Zimbabwe across three formats in the UAE between October and November.
The schedule begins with a one-off Test against Bangladesh from October 9 to 13, before Afghanistan join Bangladesh and Zimbabwe in an ODI tri-series beginning October 17. The top two teams will meet in the final on October 23.
Afghanistan will then face Zimbabwe in three T20Is from October 27 to November 1, followed by a two-Test series beginning November 5. The final Test will be played from November 13 to 17, making it a hectic multi-format period for the Afghan side.
Mark Chapman steps away from New Zealand central contract
New Zealand batter Mark Chapman has opted out of the Black Caps' central contract list for the 2026-27 season, choosing instead to operate under a casual contract.
The decision will give Chapman greater flexibility to pursue franchise cricket opportunities, particularly in the Big Bash League, which overlaps with New Zealand’s international commitments later in the year. However, the left-hander has made it clear that he has not stepped away from international cricket.
Chapman will remain available for New Zealand’s upcoming home series against India in October. His move also opens a place on the central contract list for fast bowler Matthew Fisher, who has received his first national contract.
Nahid Rana's BBL hopes hit by BCB's NOC stance
Nahid Rana’s hopes of making his Big Bash League debut have suffered a major setback after the Bangladesh Cricket Board indicated that it is unlikely to grant him a No Objection Certificate.
The Bangladesh quick has reportedly attracted interest from BBL franchises, including Melbourne Renegades and Adelaide Strikers. However, the BCB is reluctant to release him because of Bangladesh’s international commitments and his recent recovery from injury.
A BCB official told Cricbuzz that the board has not yet received an official NOC request from Rana, but added that his chances of receiving permission would be “very slim.” The board also wants to closely monitor the pacer’s fitness and workload before making any decision.
