Pakistan all-rounder Faheem Ashraf has signed up with the Yorkshire cricket club for the upcoming Vitality T20 Blast 2026 season. The cricketer will be replacing Australia’s Will Sutherland, who has opted himself out of the club owing to an injury.

Ashraf recently played the entirety of the PSL 2026 season in Pakistan for the Islamabad United franchise. Known for his controversial social media antics, the 32-year-old will now be making his return to the English T20 competition after a gap of seven years.

Anti-India Faheem Ashraf returns to T20 Blast after seven years

Last month, Australian all-rounder Will Sutherland was ruled out of his Yorkshire stint owing to a shoulder injury. Originally, the cricketer was in line to play two County Championship matches for the club, and the entirety of the 2026 Vitality T20 Blast season.

On Thursday, May 14, the Yorkshire cricket club has now roped in Pakistan’s Faheem Ashraf as a replacement for Sutherland for the upcoming T20 competition.

Ashraf previously played T20 Blast cricket back during the 2019 edition of the tournament, doing so for the Northamptonshire County Cricket Club. In 11 matches, the Pakistani all-rounder picked up 11 wickets at an average of 29.63.

It is worth noting that Faheem Ashraf has previously courted controversy for anti-India social media posts.

When Ashraf provoked Indian Army

Earlier this month, Faheem Ashraf posted an offensive social media post targeted at Indian Army. Posting it just a day after the first anniversary of India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’, the cricketer shared an artwork of Pakistan Army launching missiles towards India.

The all-rounder also sparked hatred between India and Pakistan back in 2025, by sharing a grotesque Ghibli-style art on Instagram. The art depicted a Pakistani soldier applying ‘sindoor’ (vermilion) on an Indian woman wearing a tri-color sari.

Faheem Ashraf in PSL 2026

Faheem Ashraf played for the Islamabad United franchise in the recently-concluded PSL 2026 season, doing so under the leadership of fellow all-rounder Shadab Khan. While Islamabad finished second on the PSL 2026 points table at the end of the league, and reached the second eliminator of the tournament, Ashraf himself underwent a below par campaign.

For starters, the 32-year-old picked up just nine wickets in 10 innings spanning 11 matches, at an expensive bowling average of 27.66. He also leaked runs at an economy rate of nearly nine. Even with the bat, the all-rounder scored just 73 runs in six innings at a dismal average of 12.16.

The Punjab-born T20 star, however, did scripted a huge record by becoming only the second all-rounder in PSL history to complete 1,000 runs and take 100 wickets.

On a trail of an underwhelming PSL 2026 season and a wicketless 2026 T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka, Ashraf will be aiming to reverse his fortunes by making the most of his second stint in England’s T20 Blast.
