Sports and politics should be kept far away from each other, but time and again, Pakistan players have proven that they cannot separate the two. After the Pahalgam terror attack in India last April, the nation retaliated and launched Operation Sindoor, carrying out airstrikes on nine terror infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Last year witnessed a more than cold-war situation between the Indian and the Pakistan cricket team, as the Men in Blue even refused to shake hands with Pakistan players in the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup 2026.
On May 7, India celebrated the one-year anniversary of Operation Sindoor’s success, as the nation rejoiced in having won the war against its arch-rival, Pakistan. However, India’s success became a point of jealousy for one of Pakistan’s key white-ball players, Faheem Ashraf.
Faheem Ashraf mocks Operation Sindoor with Social media post
On Friday, May 8, a day after India celebrated the one-year anniversary, Pakistan cricketer Faheem Ashraf mocked Operation Sindoor with a social media post. In the post, people of Pakistan could be seen watching their army launch missiles towards India, as the cricketer took a massive dig at the Indian army, and Operation Sindoor.
This was an unnecessary post that targeted India, and Faheem Ashraf received a lot of flak online for his actions.
Not the first time Faheem Ashraf mocked Indian army
Perhaps the most controversial act ever committed by a Pakistan player occurred last year, when, out of jealousy and hatred, Faheem Ashraf hurt India’s sentiments with a derogatory social media post.
He sparked hatred by sharing grotesque Ghibli-style art on Instagram that depicted a Pakistani soldier applying sindoor (vermilion) on an Indian woman wearing a tricolour sari.
The post caused a social media storm, as the Indian fans were angry, and many of whom were outraged by what they saw as Ashraf’s insensitive reaction. However, the player had no remorse as he didn't delete the post and continued to taunt India during the Asia Cup matches.

India took revenge by bringing Faheem Ashraf to his knees
Faheem Ashraf was included in Pakistan’s Asia Cup squad, last year, and Indian fans were outraged as they wanted the Men in Blue to take revenge against him.
In the first game of the Asia Cup after his controversial social media post, Faheem failed with the bat as he got dismissed for 11 off 14 balls, and he was not required to bowl as India decimated Pakistan with ease. In the Super 4 game between the two teams, Faheem was taken to the cleaners as he conceded 31 runs in four overs.
In the finals, which once again took place between India, and Pakistan, Faheem was dismissed for a duck as India took their revenge in three successive games.
The final nail in the coffin was the T20 World Cup 2026, when India once again thrashed Pakistan, with the all-rounder scoring just 10 off 14 balls as the Men in Green were humbled in Sri Lanka.
