RCB fan has a viral chat with CSK icon MS Dhoni
In a video trending on social media, MS Dhoni can be seen interacting with fans during a promotional event. One particular fan asked the former Indian captain to predict the winner of IPL 2027 next year, but asked the legendary stumper to ‘exclude’ the CSK franchise among title contenders.
Dhoni jokingly responded that he will not answer any such questions, and stated that fans are free to support whichever teams they want. The former CSK skipper also asked the fan if he supported any team in particular.

RCB defends title, MS Dhoni-less CSK finish eighth
Both RCB and CSK franchises suffered contrasting fates in the recently-concluded IPL 2026 season. Under the leadership of Rajat Patidar, RCB won the IPL 2026 title to successfully defend its 2025 victory, thus becoming only the third franchise in history to win successive IPL trophies after CSK and Mumbai Indians.
The CSK, on the other hand, failed to make it to the playoffs for the third time in a row this season. Ever since Dhoni stepped down as team captain, the franchise is yet to make it to the top four. This year, CSK registered six wins and sustained eight defeats to finish eighth on the IPL 2026 points table.
MS Dhoni spends entire IPL 2026 on the sidelines
Much to everyone’s surprise, MS Dhoni spent the entire IPL 2026 season without playing a single match, thus marking the first such occasion in IPL history since the inception of the tournament.
Earlier, the aging veteran was initially ruled out of the first two weeks of the IPL 2026 season owing to his calf injury. While the 44-year-old attended a few training sessions on the field, the cricketer remained away from action as a precautionary measure.
Dhoni will now be expected to make his return to the CSK’s playing XI from next year onwards for the IPL 2027 season. However, since he will turn 45 next week and will be approaching 46 by the time of IPL 2027, the legendary wicketkeeper-batter might also confirm his retirement from the IPL at some stage.
