Mohammad Amir labelled as fraud after India's win [Source: X]
Mohammad Amir became a fortune teller in Pakistan as he made some bold predictions regarding India’s T20 World Cup 2026 journey. The former Pakistan pacer predicted that India wouldn’t even reach the semifinals of the marquee event, but the Men in Blue defied him and made it to the finale for the second time in a row.
Amir stated that India will bow out of the tournament in the Super 8 stage, and South Africa and the West Indies will reach the semifinals. However, the Men in Blue showed their class as they slapped the ex-Pakistan player with a statement win over England.
Sidhu blasts Amir for his fake predictions on India
After India won a close-fought contest against England and reached the finals of the T20 World Cup, former India player Navjot Singh Sidhu labelled Amir as “Dhongi” (fraud), after his India prediction went completely wrong.
Sidhu took to his social media and mocked Amir for his fake predictions as India defied all odds to script history.
“People around us have a big habit of making fake predictions. If it comes true, good; if not, they just brush it off. If it works, they call it an arrow; if not, they say it was just a guess," Sidhu said in an Instagram post.
“And still they continue to act like some kind of wise baba. Honestly, I think such people are just dhongi babas (fake babas). First, they said India would not even qualify, would not reach the semifinals," Sidhu said.
“They claimed West Indies and South Africa would go ahead. But the moment Sanju Samson made his comeback, both those teams were sent packing. And today they said England would win the semifinal and England also got knocked out," Sidhu added.
What Amir said about India during Super 8s
Ahead of India’s Super 8 clash against the West Indies, Amir gave a bold statement that the Men in Blue wouldn’t reach the semifinals as their bowling looks weak, and the Windies have a shrewd coach in Daren Sammy, who will exploit India’s weakness.
“West Indies can easily beat India. The match is in Kolkata. If you look at India's bowling, aside from Bumrah, the rest isn't that great. Even Zimbabwe scored 184. West Indies went to 170 odd after being 90/7. I think the West Indies can easily beat India,” Amir said on the ‘Haarna Mana Hai’ show.
“Daren Sammy is a very good coach. He's very lucky; the West Indies will beat India. Rovman Powell will score big. If West Indies, then only I will come for the post-match show, and these two gentlemen (Latif and Shehzad) won't come,” he added.
This statement triggered the Indian fans as they mocked Amir after the team managed to beat the Windies, and reached the semifinals.

Amir takes U-Turn after India reached the finals
After India managed to narrowly beat England to seal a T20 World Cup finale date with New Zealand, Amir took a U-turn and praised Suryakumar Yadav’s men for a complete performance to reach the finals. Interestingly, before the India vs England match, the Pakistan pacer had predicted England to beat the defending champions.
“I talk about cricket. India played very well and complete cricket in this match after the entire tournament. We have to give credit where it is due. I did make a good prediction, but dropping a catch isn’t in my hands," Amir said.
With India set to take on the Kiwis in the final on Sunday, expect Amir to come up with yet another bizarre comment about the Men in Blue’s chances to win the T20 World Cup.
