In a massive development, Mark Chapman and Rachin Ravindra have been ruled out of the ODI series against India. Notably, the pair have been recovering from the injuries that sidelined them from the T20I leg of the India tour.

Chapman suffered an injury to his left hamstring during his stint at the European T20 Premier League. Meanwhile, Ravindra dislocated his right shoulder during a promotional shoot. Nevertheless, replacements have also been named for the duo ahead of the ODI leg.

Rachin Ravindra, Mark Chapman require more time to recover before India ODI series

After Mark Chapman’s injury, a New Zealand Cricket statement revealed that following a recent MRI, he now requires an additional two weeks to recover before attaining full fitness.

Meanwhile, the New Zealand Cricket statement said that Rachin Ravindra requires more time for his injury before being ready to field at full capacity.

“Everyone knows what an asset Mark and Rachin are to this side, so it’s a shame they have to miss this series,” head coach Rob Walter said.

“I caught up with Mark last week and although he’s disappointed, he’s working hard to get back on the field. With Rachin, his shoulder hasn’t quite recovered to a position where he could field comfortably in white-ball cricket, so with the Test series later this month, we don’t want to take any undue risks,” Walter added.

Tim Seifert, Henry Nicholls and Dean Foxcroft added to New Zealand squad

Notably, Tim Seifert, who was added for the last two ODI games, has been added to the squad for the first three T20Is as well. Left-handed batter Henry Nicholls and all-rounder Dean Foxcroft have also been added with a few twists and turns.

Nicholls has been added for the first three ODIs, while Foxcroft will join the squad for the last two games. After an impressive performance in the T20I leg, pacer Matt Fisher has also been added for the first three games of the series after being initially added for the last two games.

Notably, Matt Henry, who was sidelined from the last three T20Is due to an injury to his leg, will also join the squad on Monday, with his availability being subject to fitness after assessment.
