15-year-old Indian prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi lit up the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur as he smashed 93 runs to lead RR to an important victory. His heroics even drew appreciation from LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka, triggering a wave of speculations.

Rajasthan Royals hosted LSG at Jaipur on May 19. Batting first, Luckow posted 220 runs on the board, which seemed a par total. Moreover, Sooryavanshi had a slow start in the second innings as he scored just 11 runs from the first 12 balls.

However, the kid picked up the pace quickly, hammering 93 off just 38 balls, including 7 fours and 10 sixes. His knock helped Rajasthan Royals complete the chase with 5 balls to spare.

Meanwhile, LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka was all praise for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi despite being on the losing side. He met the kid post-match and said that the world has seen his talent, and he already has the responsibility of carrying India’s future on his shoulders.

In the pictures that Goenka posted on X, Sooryavanshi is seen touching his feet as a gesture of respect. In return, the LSG owner also blessed Vaibhav and wished him the best for the future.

Meanwhile, this interaction prompted an interesting reaction from former Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar, as he said, “I will be bidding for you soon.”

Gavaskar meant to tease that Sanjiv Goenka would love to have Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in the LSG squad someday. And if given a chance, he would definitely bid for him in future IPL auctions.

The comment was essentially a compliment, implying Vaibhav already looks like a future superstar worth spending heavily on.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is unlikely to be in the action pool

That being said, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is unlikely to be available in the auction pool in the near future. The mega auction will take place in a couple of years, where franchises will be allowed to retain only a set number of players.

However, given the value of Sooryavanshi, the Rajasthan Royals won’t leave him out at any cost. He would be retained at a high cost, given his talent and meteoric rise in competitive cricket.

And for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the sky is the limit. At just 15, he has taken the IPL by storm and is scoring consistently in age-group cricket. The teenager is set to play for India A as well in the future, and Indian fans cannot wait to see how he fares in the international scene.

RR frontrunner for IPL playoff qualification

Meanwhile, after a commanding victory over LSG, the Rajasthan Royals have increased their chances at playoff qualification. Currently, RCB, SRH and GT have locked a playoff spot, with only one vacant seat available.

RR have 14 points with a game to go. If they win against the Mumbai Indians next, they can go through the knockout stages without having to depend on others.

However, in case they lose, RR would hope CSK and PBKS drop points in their last league fixtures. But for now, the Royals’ only option is to beat MI and ensure their fate remains in their own hands.
