Over the last 19 years, the Rajasthan Royals have invested a hefty amount of money in so many star players. While some of those have gone on to become the best in the business, others have crumbled under the IPL price tag.

Perhaps, RR’s best piece of IPL business came last year, when the franchise invested 1.10 crore to acquire the services of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. He was 13 when the former IPL winners bought him in the squad, and one-year later, the young Sooryavanshi has become Rajasthan’s best batter.

His quality and ball-striking ability are second to none, but fans always wanted to check his temperament under pressure. That moment came in the RR Vs LSG IPL 2026 match on Tuesday evening.

Sooryavanshi takes down quality LSG bowling attack

After losing their last IPL match, RR had to win the ongoing match against the LSG and the next match to stay alive in the IPL playoffs race. However, the LSG batters made their life tough after being put into bat.

Courtesy of Mitch Marsh’s brilliant 96, LSG posted 220/5. In reply, the team had a quickfire start as Yashasvi Jaiswal slammed 43 off 23 balls. Initially, Sooryavanshi took the back seat, but when Jaiswal departed, the southpaw took the centre stage and punished the LSG bowlers.

He targeted Akash Singh and made a mockery of the LSG attack to smash a 23-ball fifty to keep the Rajasthan Royals in the hunt to win the match and keep their playoff hopes alive.

Sooryavanshi shatters Rishabh Pant's IPL feat

Sooryavanshi not only scored yet another IPL fifty, but he also attained the milestone of 500-plus runs in the ongoing tournament. Interestingly, he became the youngest batter to reach the milestone in an IPL campaign (15 years old), shattering Rishabh Pant's feat.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been Rajasthan Royals’ best batter in the ongoing campaign, and while others have struggled, he has kept going strong, and has become the new Orange Cap holder.

Mitch Marsh scored 96 tonight, and he became the Orange Cap holder before Sooryavanshi’s carnage helped him snatch the cap from the LSG opener.

In IPL 2026, Sooryavanshi has smacked 568 runs in 13 matches, with an astonishing strike rate of 238.66, the highest by any player in an IPL 2026.
