Litton Das Faces BCB Inquiry Over Major Rule Violations

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Sunday (July 19) sought an explanation from Litton Das, their T20I captain, over major rule violations. The development came after he breached the code of conduct set by the BCB.

A Cricbuzz report confirmed that the BCB had already confirmed it happened. The controversy was created because Litton did not tell the BCB about his travel plans in China regarding his injury concerns, making the country’s board of directors and stakeholders angry.

BCB Questions Litton Das For Code Of Conduct Breach

A BCB source told Cricbuzz about the above-mentioned developments involving Litton Das. BCB director Sirajuddin Mohammad Alamgir also highlighted the strict policy set by the board, saying the BCB ‘will not tolerate indiscipline from any player.’

"He (Litton Das) gave his statement during the hearing. Now we have to talk with the medical committee and cross-check the whole matter. But, with what we have heard, we think he is saying the truth," said Alamgir, as quoted by Cricbuzz.

Litton was supposed to travel to Singapore to assess his injured left calf, which ruled him out of the recently concluded Bangladesh ODI series in Zimbabwe.

After that, he decided to opt out of the Lanka Premier League (LPL), only to confirm his participation later on. In the process, he received a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the BCB to make himself unavailable for Zimbabwe T20Is.

"He has been playing for a long time. He actually doesn't have that much of a disciplinary issue (record) in his career. He doesn't have a track record as such. We have that in mind. I this he is little bit frustrated as he couldn't play the Sri Lankan T20 League (Lanka Premier League)," Alamgir added.

"There was just a communication gap. This is not something that is intentional or some sort of a violation, but even after there is a communication gap, he still has breached the contract. I have told Litton not to take this personally," he revealed.

No Final Call Taken By BCB On Litton

BCB’s disciplinary committee, meanwhile, is yet to take their final call on Litton. What Litton did was wrong; the BCB, as the Cricbuzz report further elaborated, wants to give a strong message to all Bangladesh players regarding the Code of Conduct violations.

"Through this we want to give a clear message to the players regarding our stance on disciplinary issues," Alamgir concluded.

Litton last played for Bangladesh against Australia in June. There, he made 83 runs across three innings, including an unbeaten 78-ball 58.

The ongoing edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) began on July 17. There, Litton signed for Galle Marvels. Nevertheless, he is yet to play a game in LPL 2026.

Despite Litton not being there, Galle have kicked off LPL 2026 on a flying note. They have won two out of two matches, helping them sit at the top of the points table.
