Here, in this article, we take a look at India's Predicted Playing XI For 2nd ODI Vs England, based on what happened and how the Men in Blue fared less than 24 hours ago.
India Predicted Playing XI vs England- 2nd ODI
Openers And Nos. 3 & 4- Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill (c), Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer
Even though Rohit could only make 11 off 21 balls before falling to Sam Curran, there is little doubt that he will keep his place. With captain Shubman Gill highlighting how important Rohit would be for 2027 World Cup, he will seek to get back to his brutal best at the top.
Not to forget, Rohit’s ODI average reads 62.56 in England, with 1439 runs in 28 innings which had seven centuries and as many half-centuries.
Meanwhile, the biggest concern would be whether Gill would be fit to play the second ODI. The Indian captain, who was fluent throughout his stay at Edgbaston, retired hurt due to cramps last time. However, he himself confirmed that it is nothing but a minor issue, and will be there on the field in Caridff.
Just like Rohit, 2027 World Cup is equally important for Virat Kohli. Even though Jofra Archer plumbed him in front in Edgbaston for just 5, don’t be surprised if he gets to a three-digit mark to stage a roaring comeback, something which he often does.
Nevertheless, Kohli’s ODI numbers are not as impressive as Rohit’s. After 34 innings, the stylish batter has one century and 12 half-centuries in England, averaging over 50 for his of 1354 runs.

Even though India’s ODI Vice-captain Shreyas Iyer seemed to be a bit shaky in the early part of his innings during IND vs ENG 1st ODI, his 53-ball 35 was significantly important for Team India to chase down the target, particularly after losing both Rohit and Kohli with a space of six deliveries.
Wicket-Keeper & All-Rounders- KL Rahul (wk), Washington Sundar, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel
In the first ODI, India had three all-rounders in Washington Sundar, Shivam Dube and Axar Patel. All three did their bit, with Axar in particular standing above the rest with impactful contributions with both bat and ball.
Thanks to his unbeaten 52-ball 57, coupled with 4/62, he was rewarded with the Player of the Match award. Therefore, expect all three to retain their places.
Although Rahul fell for just 1 run, no one can deny the fact that how important he is for India in ODIs and Tests. He, without a dobut, will get another chance to shine, as the BCCI at present look at him as India’s primary wicket-keeping option for 2027 World Cup.
Bowlers- Gurnoor Brar, Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna
India’s pace trio Gurnoor Brar, Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna shared five wickets in between them during IND vs ENG 1st ODI. They all combined to reduce England to 61/0 to 107/6.
Even though Prasidh and Brar leaked a few runs later on, it would be very surprising if India make a change in their attack to add room for someone like Arshdeep Singh and Prince Yadav.
If they do, Arshdeep might come in to replace Brar.
India's Predicted Playing XI For 2nd ODI Vs England: Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill (c), Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (wk), Washington Sundar, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel, Gurnoor Brar/Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna
