In a massive update, Mumbai Indians all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who has reportedly been linked with multiple franchises, has now been at the centre of a major development regarding the rumoured deals.
As per a recent report from Cricbuzz, the Mumbai Indians franchise is currently mulling over several franchise deals involving Hardik Pandya, with its focus yet to settle on a particular franchise.
MI unsure in last phase of Hardik Pandya IPL 2027 trade deal
The report from Cricbuzz stated that discussions involving Mumbai Indians and multiple franchises regarding Pandya are at an advanced stage. Some reports even claimed that the final phase of the trade deals is being discussed, but Mumbai Indians are yet to finalise any deal.
"Cricbuzz understands discussions are at an advanced stage involving multiple franchises but Mumbai Indians are yet to zero in one deal," the report read.
Notably, the last major update regarding Hardik Pandya's trade involved Punjab Kings, with the cricketer reportedly all set to join the franchise for IPL 2027 in exchange for Punjab's star bowler Arshdeep Singh and wicketkeeper-batter Bishnu Vinod.
However, the recent development only reveals that no confirmation can yet be given regarding the official trade.
Which teams were interested in Hardik Pandya trade?
For the unaware, multiple IPL franchises were interested in acquiring Hardik Pandya for the IPL 2027 season. The first major rumour came from Kolkata Knight Riders, with Hardik Pandya reportedly being chose in exchange for Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy, and Rinku Singh. However, the demand was rejected by Kolkata Knight Riders, and the trade could not materialise.
Later, Chennai Super Kings also showed interest in acquiring him, as per reports, with talks of several all-rounder options, including Shivam Dube, being considered as like-for-like deals for Pandya. Nevertheless, that demand too was dropped, with no concrete outcome for the cricketer.
Now, if the Punjab Kings and Hardik Pandya IPL 2027 trade rumour turns out to be true, Arshdeep's departure would leave a big gap for Punjab Kings to fill. They would look to bring in pacers from other franchises in exchange for an all-rounder like Marcus Stoinis.
Hardik's arrival would also strengthen Punjab's seam-bowling all-rounder options, with PBKS having more freedom to trade Marcus Stoinis for another pacer from a different franchise.
