The BCCI has named Jasprit Bumrah’s replacement for the Test series in Sri Lanka. The ICC has banned USA cricketer for eight years. In other news, Cricket Australia has named Australia’s U19 squad for the tour of India.

Auqib Nabi replaces Jasprit Bumrah for Sri Lanka Test series

The BCCI has included Auqib Nabi in Team India squad for the upcoming two-match Test series in Sri Lanka. The Jammu and Kashmir fast bowler was roped in as an official replacement of legendary paceman Jasprit Bumrah, after the latter got ruled out of the tour owing to an injury.

Auqib won the ‘Player of the Tournament’ earlier this year in the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy season for picking up 60 wickets.

ICC bans USA bowler Bodugum Akhilesh Reddy

The ICC has banned India-origin USA cricketer Bodugum Akhilesh Reddy. He was found guilty by an ICC Anti-Corruption Tribunal of breaching three counts of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code. Getting banned for eight years, the ban is backdated to November 21, 2025, when Reddy got provisionally suspended owing to his offences in the 2025 Abu Dhabi T10 League season. 

The former Hyderabad cricketer, with an experience of just four T20Is, will be eligible to return by November 2033. 

Australia U19 squad unveiled for India tour

Cricket Australia has unveiled a 16-player squad for the Australia Under-19 team for the upcoming multi-format tour of India. Kasey Barton, Hayden Barbulovic, Eli Brain, Will Byrom and Blake Cattle are just some of the players who made a cut into the team. 

The Australia U19 team is scheduled to face India U19 in a series of three Youth ODIs and two Youth Tests between September 18 and October 5 in Rajkot and Ahmedabad. 

Shubman Gill to play Sher-e-Punjab T20 League 2026 season

Shubman Gill is set to feature in the upcoming 2026 season of the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League at the Maharaja Yadavindra PCA International Cricket Stadium. The Indian ODI and Test captain recently attended the launch event of the tournament alongside national teammate Arshdeep Singh.

The Sher-e-Punjab 2026 season will commence from August 30 onwards this month, i.e., just a couple of days after the conclusion of the Sri Lanka Test series.

Josh Inglis doubtful for Australia vs Bangladesh Test

Australian wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis has sustained a back injury. The incident occurred during Australia’s week-long preparation camp in Brisbane, with Inglis suffering the injury during an intra-squad practise match.

While the injury is not severe, there is a possibility that the Australian team management will take a cautious approach for the star stumper by resting him for the series-opening first Test against Bangladesh.
