The Delhi Premier League 2026 has already started gaining massive attention, with teams ready to put their everything on the line for a title win. On August 3, during the sixth match between Purani Dilli 6 and West Delhi Lions, an old feud was rekindled as two players from the opposite teams almost recreated a flashback from the previous season because of their infamous rivalry.
Digvesh Singh Rathi of Purani Dilli 6 and Nitish Rana of West Delhi Lions faced each other almost a year after a very infamous incident that had the two locking horns on and off the field.
Nitish Rana and Digvesh Singh Rathi had a very animated verbal spat in their last meeting during the Delhi Premier League 2025 Eliminator, where Rana had the upper hand with the bat as he smashed Rathi after a fiery, angry exchange on the field.
However, this time, the tables turned as Digvesh successfully dismissed Rana and completed his revenge in the sixth match of DPL 2026.
Digvesh Singh Rathi Gets Nitish Rana Revenge In DPL 2026
Incidentally, as West Delhi Lions came out to bat first and put a total on the board in the DPL 2026 match, Nitish was sent back to the pavilion early by Digvesh. Scoring only three runs off four deliveries, Rana was dismissed LBW by Rathi on the penultimate ball of the 11th over.
Rathi bowled a 91.7 kmph delivery to Rana, where the fuller-length ball on the off-stump line prompted Rana to switch his stance and attempt a reverse sweep. However, he missed it, and the ball struck his front pad before the decision went upstairs. With a flat line on UltraEdge, ball-tracking confirmed that Nitish was out.
Rathi, who is known for his notebook celebration to aggravate and intimidate batters after dismissing them, was quite calm and composed this time. He did not pull off his usual animated celebration and instead celebrated normally as Nitish Rana walked back to the pavilion.
Putting up a total of only 180 on the board, West Delhi Lions could not defend it as Purani Dilli 6 batters Dev Lakra, Anuj Rawat, and Lalit Yadav combined to chase the target down inside 17.5 overs, handing Purani Dilli 6 a seven-wicket win. However, the biggest highlight of the contest was Digvesh Singh Rathi finally getting his revenge.

What Was The Feud Between Rana And Rathi?
Back in 2025, Rathi was known for his mocking celebrations, where he used to mimic writing the names of batters in a notebook after dismissing them.
During the DPL 2025 Eliminator, Nitish Rana and Rathi had a heated on-field altercation, with verbal volleys exchanged between the two. Rathi interrupted Rana's concentration several times by faking his run-up and pulling out at the very last second, which prompted Rana to do the same to him on the very next delivery.
Rana then smashed Digvesh Rathi for a massive six and mockingly replicated the bowler's trademark no-look notebook celebration with his bat. This fired Rathi up, and the gesture led to another heated verbal exchange, with Rana angrily charging towards the bowler. However, teammates and umpires intervened before the situation escalated further.
Rana went on to score an unbeaten 134 off 55 balls, leading West Delhi Lions to victory, while Rathi was fined 80% of his match fee. Rana was not spared either, as he was docked 50% of his match fee for breaching the code of conduct.
Did The Heat Between The Two Go Off After DPL 2025?
Nevertheless, the Delhi boys seem to have put the spat behind them since IPL 2026. Rathi and Rana appeared to be on talking terms as cameras spotted them at the Ekana Stadium ahead of a Lucknow Super Giants vs Delhi Capitals clash.
Rishabh Pant acted as the mediator after Rathi started to walk away following a brief exchange. Rana patted him on the shoulder, but Pant sensed there was more to be resolved between the two.
The then LSG captain called Digvesh Singh Rathi back and requested him to return and settle things with Nitish Rana once and for all. Both Digvesh and Nitish were then seen sharing a laugh and engaging in a hearty conversation on camera, ultimately confirming that they had buried the hatchet during the IPL itself.
