The Mumbai Indians are all set to face arch-rivals CSK in the 33rd fixture of the IPL 2026 season. Ahead of this big clash, the MI camp saw the arrival of a key all-rounder who had been missing in the first half.

MI finally broke their winless streak against the Gujarat Titans on Monday. While Tilak Varma scored a century, Jasprit Bumrah also fetched his first wicket of the season.

Will Jacks joins the Mumbai Indians ahead of the CSK game

Meanwhile, with the winning momentum finally in hand, the Mumbai Indians are scheduled to compete against CSK on Thursday. And in a big boost, all-rounder Will Jacks has joined the MI squad after a long wait.

According to Cricbuzz, Jacks officially joined the Mumbai Indians for the IPL 2026 season and has begun practising with the team. He could likely be available for the upcoming CSK game if the management sees him match-ready.

It’s important to note that Jacks didn’t miss games due to injury or being dropped, as his absence was pre-planned. He had a packed international calendar, including The Ashes and England’s white-ball tour of Sri Lanka.

Immediately after, the all-rounder played the T20 World Cup, where he was one of England’s standout performers. Following this workload, Will Jacks requested a short personal break, delaying his arrival for IPL 2026.

Will MI include Will Jacks against CSK?

That being said, the Mumbai Indians will have to figure out a way to fit Will Jacks into the playing XI without disturbing the team combination. Currently, Sherfane Rutherford is playing as a finisher for MI.

In 5 innings, he has scored 103 runs, including a blazing half-century against RCB. However, if the Mumbai Indians prefer an all-rounder who can bowl, Will Jacks can make the cut.

For now, MI are focused on getting their preparations right ahead of the CSK clash. They’re still placed seventh on the points table with 2 wins in 6 games. Even Chennai are lagging behind at 8th place with just 2 wins.

Rohit Sharma is still uncertain for MI vs CSK game

Meanwhile, former Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma is also unavailable due to injury. He picked up a hamstring injury during MI’s match against RCB and walked back, retired hurt.

Since then, he has missed two consecutive matches, including the game against the Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

He reportedly underwent scans, but reports were inconclusive, meaning no clear timeline for recovery. Moreover, the team management is likely to be extra cautious to avoid a long-term setback.

In Rohit’s absence, Quinton de Kock has taken over as opener. Also, against GT, MI handed debuts to Krish Bhagat and Danish Malewar, indicating they’re trying new combinations.
