The U19 Women’s World Cup 2027 is nearing with each passing day, and the preparations are in full swing. The defending champions, India U19 Women, look to defend their crown for the second consecutive time.
Since there is still some time left before the ICC event, the teams will now create a pool of talent, try out different team combinations and aim for the big prize.
To get the new cycle underway, India are now ready to take on the neighbours, Sri Lanka, in the white-ball series at home, where the teams will try to test out their best talent from age-group cricket.
Sri Lanka U19 Women to tour India
According to TOI, Sri Lanka U19 Women, who were last in action back in September 2025, will travel to India in June and July for a white-ball tour, which will include both One Day and T20s.
Sri Lanka are a fine unit, who had beaten Australia U19 Women 5-0 in T20s during their last assignment in Dambulla. Now, they stand a chance to replicate similar performances against the two-time champions, India.
As reported by Gaurav Gupta of TOI, the Lankans will play three T20 matches and three One Dayers during this tour, which will be played from June 22 to July 6. Sri Lanka will officially leave for India on June 18, 2026.

India Women eye special U19 feat
The U19 Women’s T20 World Cup was officially played for the first time in 2023, when South Africa hosted the competition in T20 format. The Malaysia edition followed it in 2025.
India asserted their dominance in both editions and won the consecutive titles comprehensively. Across both previous editions, Gongadi Trisha of India scored 425 runs as the leading run-scorer of the competition, while the left-arm orthodox spinner Vaishnavi Sharma picked a whopping 17 wickets as the leading wicket-taker.
As of now, India is yet to announce their squad for the Sri Lanka series. However, they will look to go all guns blazing and three-peat the title. This would further solidify India’s standing in ICC events, following the recent success in both Men’s and Women’s cricket.
Currently, they are the holders of both U19 Men’s and U19 Women’s World Cups, alongside the ICC Women’s World Cup, ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and the ICC Champions Trophy.
In the next couple of years, they can achieve greater success in the Women’s T20 World Cup in England, where they are the contenders and the much-anticipated ICC Men’s World Cup 2027.
