The much-anticipated India tour of Bangladesh, consisting of three ODIs and three T20Is, was originally scheduled for the September 2026 window. However, despite it all going towards a positive direction after the indefinite postponement, the situation reportedly worsened following the latest Shakib Al Hasan's press conference.
Shakib attended a press conference with Bangladesh’s ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in Delhi on August 5. After that, it was reported that India's tour of Bangladesh would no longer be happening. However, it all seems like that is not going to be the case in reality.
Bangladesh Ministers Step In To Resolve Concerns Over India Tour
As reported by Cricbuzz, Aminul Haque, Bangladesh state minister for youth and sports, confirmed that there will be no compromise happening for the India tour. Aminul further highlighted the fact that cricket should not be impacted due to the political reasons, putting Shakib Al Hasan's press conference concerns at rest.
“No no no... I don't think so (that our relationship is strained due to that press conference). I think sports means sports, and through sports a good relationship is created with all our neighboring countries,” Aminul Haque said.
Furthermore, Aminul Haque shared that everything is going towards the right direction for the India tour of Bangladesh, and the ministers have been doing their bit to make it a reality.

"It is being worked on at the ministerial level. I have already spoken to the Foreign Minister today (Monday) and they are also talking to the Indian Foreign Minister. We want to quickly resolve the deadlock that was created around the World Cup. Inshallah, we are hopeful that it will be resolved very soon,” he added.
Aminul Haque Emphasizes India-Bangladesh Friendly Ties
To conclude, Aminul Haque underscored the importance of the relationship between India and Bangladesh, which appeared to be on the brink of collapse since the Mustafizur Rahman saga.
In fact, Bangladesh withdrew from the T20 World Cup 2026, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. It was a very bold move by the BCB, which, they later realised, should not have been done.
"We want to quickly resolve the deadlock that was created around the World Cup. We are hopeful that it will be resolved very soon,” Aminul stated.
"We strongly want to maintain the cordiality and friendly relationship between Bangladesh and India, including the cricket series between the two countries. We hope that this matter will be resolved very soon."
When India, Bangladesh Last Met In White-Ball Cricket
For the ODI format, India and Bangladesh last met in a Champions Trophy match back in 2025. There, India chased down a 229-run target in 46.3 overs with six wickets in hand. Shubman Gill remained not out on 101 to get the job done.
In the T20Is, Bangladesh and India faced each other last time in the Asia Cup 2025. India won comprehensively there as well, posting 168/6 batting first before bundling them out for 127 in 19.3 overs.
