Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf has been picked up by the Adelaide Strikers for the BBL 2026-27 season. Bolstering Strikers’ pace attack, Rauf, who has played 33 BBL matches for Melbourne Stars since 2019, will be a talented asset for the team in Australian conditions.
Notably, Haris Rauf is also one of the three international recruits in head coach Tim Paine's squad for the upcoming campaign, as ex-England captain Ben Stokes and New Zealand's Mark Chapman have both been signed by the Strikers.
Strikers pick ‘finest’ Rauf ahead of BBL season
Notably, Haris Rauf has taken 56 wickets from his BBL stints, bowling at an average of 16.48, with career-best figures of five for 27. Rauf will play for the Adelaide Strikers after having taken an equal career-best 20 wickets last summer.
Rauf also shared the league's BKT Golden Arm award with Gurinder Sandhu, which is usually given to the competition's highest wicket-taker in a regular season.
"The Strikers have a strong squad with world-class players like Ben Stokes, Matt Short (Strikers captain) and Mark Chapman, so I'm really excited about the opportunity to play alongside them," Rauf said in a statement.
Haris Rauf's stint in the BBL has been a complete journey so far. He came as an injury replacement for Dale Steyn in his first season, and now he is regarded as one of the fastest and most successful bowlers in the league. He also made headlines for taking a hat-trick in his first Big Bash stint, as he made the official Team of the Tournament squad in BBL Season Nine.
Haris Rauf’s recent performances only boost BBL credentials
Although Rauf was punished by the ICC for breaching the Code of Conduct recently, his bowling performances in the tri-series in Pakistan were impressive.
He scalped seven wickets from the five matches he played at an economy rate of 6.14. Before that, he represented Pakistan TV in the President's Trophy 2026, where he impressively bagged 18 wickets from eight innings, while boasting a five-wicket haul and two four-wicket hauls in the tournament.
His last international franchise tournament was the MLC 2026, where he represented the San Francisco Unicorns and successfully scalped 10 wickets from 10 innings at an economy rate of 8.62.
Notably, Rauf is currently Pakistan's second-highest wicket-taker of all time in T20 cricket, with 133 scalps, and his new BBL home, Adelaide Oval, was also one of his favourite venues to bowl, where he delivered some of his finest performances for his country.
He played a key role in the team's historic ODI triumph back in 2024 at Adelaide Oval, where he scalped a five-wicket haul to help Pakistan secure their first ODI series win on Australian soil in 22 years.
