Preparations for IPL 2027 are in full swing. Mumbai Indians have been one of the busiest teams, with a lot of work to do before the next season. Hardik Pandya’s trade is on top of the bucket list because the MI captain has made up his mind to leave the five-time winners.

Mumbai Indians have now gone 6 years without a trophy. Talking about IPL 2026, MI finished 9th on the table. At present, there is a lot of uncertainty within the group, and the future looks clouded. In the latest events, Sahil Malhotra of Times of India has dropped massive updates on Hardik Pandya’s MI future and all the major developments within the MI group.

Hardik Pandya Set To Leave Mumbai Indians

In the last couple of months, Hardik Pandya has been associated with several franchises. It all started with a potential trade with the Rajasthan Royals in exchange for Yashasvi Jaiswal. Later, franchises like Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings also expressed their interest in Hardik Pandya.

Gujarat Titans too jumped into action when a report mentioned that Hardik Pandya expressed his desire to return to the Titans as a captain. However, his request was rejected. In the last few days, the potential trade of Yashasvi Jaiswal to Mumbai Indians again caught fire.

In the latest events, Malhotra reported that there is no concrete advancement in Jaiswal deal, but irrespective of the future of this rumour, Hardik Pandya is set to leave the Mumbai Indians. He stated that the destination is not finalised, but Hardik won’t stay at MI for IPL 2027.

Mumbai Indians Hold Review Meeting In London

The report added that the Mumbai Indians group held a review meeting in the UK during the recently concluded edition of The Hundred. The board is not happy with the direction that the franchise is heading.

Notably, it has been 6 years since MI last won an IPL trophy, their longest winless spell in the history of this cash-studded league. What can be confirmed is that the board has unanimously decided to bring massive overhauls in the team for IPL 2027.

Talking about massive overhauls, senior stars like Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma will also face the heat as there are reports that SKY is also looking to leave the franchise.

Mahela Jayawardene’s Job Under the Scanner

Mahela Jayawardene joined Mumbai Indians as a head coach in 2017. Since his arrival, MI have lifted the trophy thrice. However, it seems that his job is also under the scanner. In 2022, Mahela was promoted to MI’s head of global operations.

MI roped in Mark Boucher but registered a disastrous season under his wings. It led to uproar, and Mahela Jayawardene returned as MI’s head coach. However, his second stint has not been fruitful, which is why the Sri Lanka legend is also under the scanner and might face the axe before IPL 2027.
