Amongst the finest batsmen to have emerged from Sri Lanka, this technically proficient batsman is a consistent run-getter and one of the most elegant cricketers of his era. For a player whose game is based on timing and placement, he even plays the occasional big shots. He is also Sri Lanka’s leading run-getter in Test cricket, a fine fielder and a very good slip catcher. The former Sri Lankan captain was with Kings XI Punjab in the first three seasons of the IPL. Inducted into the Delhi Daredevils squad in IPL 2012 he led the team to the knock-out stages in IPL and CLT20 2012. A versatile cricketer he adapts to different roles and positions in the line-up.
