GT qualification scenarios [Source: AP]
The Gujarat Titans, who won their only IPL title back in 2022 and reached another final in 2023, are in search of their second trophy in IPL 2026. As they continue their pursuit, they are looking for another playoff finish, similar to 2025, when they reached the Eliminator under captain Shubman Gill.
On their way to a potential playoff finish, they took on the Punjab Kings on Sunday night at home and played a final-over thriller. Courtesy of a six to finish off the match, Washington Sundar made sure GT won the match by chasing 164 runs by 4 wickets and one ball left. With this, they became the fourth team with 12 points on the table.
As they head into the crunch part of the league phase, in search of a top-4 finish, here's a look at the qualification scenarios.
How can the Gujarat Titans qualify for the IPL 2026 playoffs?
Having played 10 matches of the league stage already, the Shubman Gill-led outfit is placed 5th on the table with 12 points and are well in contention to finish in the final four with four more matches to be played.
Since their introduction in IPL 2022, they have been very successful in this regard, finishing in the playoffs three times, while only missing out once in 2024. The following have been the cut-off points for a top-4 finish:
| Season | Points |
| 2022 | 16 points |
| 2023 | 16 points |
| 2024 | 14 points (on net run-rate) |
| 2025 | 16 points |
Considering the previous seasons, they need at least 16 points to independently qualify for the playoffs. With four matches left, they need two wins to make sure they play the knockout matches. However, with 4 teams at 12 points, one team at 13 points, more than two wins can ensure a top-2 (Qualifier 1) finish as well.

What are the Gujarat Titans' remaining games of IPL 2026?
Up next, they face the Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the next two matches. Both teams are challenging for the position in the top-4 as well, and a win against either or both would solidify their chances to go ahead.
Then, they face the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Chennai Super Kings, who are both below them, so they would fancy their chances of winning these matches as well.
