GT set to bowl vs MI [Source: Screengrab/JioHotstar]
The stage is set for a riveting IPL 2026 contest as the Gujarat Titans will take on the struggling Mumbai Indians at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Over the years, the two sides have had fierce battles, with the Titans having a head-to-head edge and a psychological advantage as well.
Last season, GT defeated MI in the first two matches, but the five-time IPL champions dented GT’s title aspirations with a thumping win in the Eliminator. The two sides are also at the opposite end of the points tally this season, with MI placed last, with just a solitary win.
Rohit Sharma’s injury has not helped their cause, and Jasprit Bumrah’s wicketless streak remains their biggest concern. GT, on the other hand, has won three out of the five IPL matches played, and has started to find the rhythm in the tournament.
Two heavyweights will battle against each other tonight, and ahead of the match, we take a look at who won the toss today in GT Vs MI IPL 2026 game.

GT Vs MI: What the captains had to say
Shubman Gill: "We are going to bowl first. Looks like a decent wicket. There was a bit of dew in the last game. Always good to have a target on the board and chase it down.
(On the form of the bowling unit) The way we have neem bowling up front has been a huge plus. In the middle overs Rashid (Khan) has been really good. Hopefully, we continue to do the good work.
(On his own batting form) Always good to have some runs under the belt. If you start well, there is every chance of having a good season.
Hardik Pandya: "We would have fielded as well.
[on the mindset] Last game was tough for us as a group. We had to regroup and speak about what kind of a game we want to play and what MI stands for.
[on them bouncing back] We want to start our winning form and make sure we play good brand of cricket and tick all the boxes. There will be tough times but stand with each other and play good cricket.
