India head coach Gautam Gambhir has reportedly invited the Indian team for dinner ahead of the second T20 World Cup match against Namibia in Delhi. Team India has started their T20 World Cup journey, and the thrills have touched the sky in the first match.

In their opening clash against the USA, Team India secured a 29-run win, but their fragile batting sent waves of worry through fans. Keeping this aside, Suryakumar Yadav and Co. have moved the focus to their upcoming match against Namibia. But before that, Team India’s head coach is all set to arrange a special treat for the Men in Blue.

Gautam Gambhir plans an exclusive dinner for Team India

Ending two years of waiting, the defending champions stepped into the big stage of the T20 World Cup 2026. Facing the USA in the first match, the batting meltdown scared the fans, but captain Suryakumar Yadav’s outstanding knock helped India score 161 runs on the board. Later on, the bowlers showcased their intent as the Men in Blue secured a 29-run victory.

Now, all eyes are on Team India as they gear up to face Namibia at the iconic Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Before that, Team India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir is set to give a special surprise to the Indian side. As Delhi is his hometown, Gambhir is set to host the team at his residence.

The Times of India reports that the entire team and support staff will visit Gambhir’s residence after arriving from Mumbai to Delhi tomorrow. Ahead of the upcoming match, the entire side will have a relaxing time off the field.

“Entire team India & support staff to have dinner at #TeamIndia Head coach #GautamGambhir's residence in Delhi tomorrow:) #T20WorldCup,” the source said.

This isn’t the first time the players will visit Gambhir’s home; he previously hosted the Indian squad before the second Test against the West Indies last year. Along with captain Shubman Gill, the entire side enjoyed a light time at Gambhir’s place.

India survives scare to beat USA in thrilling clash

As the fans were eagerly waiting for the T20 World Cup 2026, the first day of the tournament turned heads with unreal thrills. In their first clash, the Men in Blue took on the USA, whose fiery bowling gave the defending champions a serious scare. After winning the toss, the USA opted to field first, and Team India faced a nightmare on the field.

Coming to open the innings, Team India faced an early blow as Abhishek Sharma departed on a golden duck. Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma tried to steady the ship, but the USA bowlers struck hard, claiming three wickets for just 1 run. Amidst the slump, captain SKY’s unbeaten 84-run knock gave a boost to the total.

Defending the total, the Indian bowlers showcased their intent. Mohammed Siraj justified his last-minute call-up as he secured three scalps in just 29 runs. Adding to that, Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel secured two wickets each. With that domination, they earned a 29-run victory.

India must fix costly mistakes ahead of Namibia showdown

After lifting the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy, Team India looked unstoppable in the shortest format. As they stepped into the field once again with a dream of defending the title, their batting struggles raised concern. While batting first, the entire batting order crumbled under the USA’s lethal bowling attack.

After an early slump, Team India needed a game-changing partnership to turn the tide. But apart from Suryakumar Yadav, other batters failed to make an impact. With the tournament just beginning, the Men in Blue must correct their batting mistakes before facing Namibia.
