BCCI unveils massive prize money for title-winning India U-19 team

The Indian cricketing talents have showcased their excellence on the big stage since the beginning, and the recently ended U-19 World Cup 2026 witnessed another instance of it. After having a dream run in the entire tournament, the India Under-19 side gifted the prestigious trophy for the sixth time and created history.

Since they sealed the historic title, praises came all over the world but the BCCI turned heads with an amazing surprise for the young guns. The highest body of the Indian cricket has announced a prize money worth 7.5 crore for them.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia announced the prize money. After the historic win, Saikia praised the temperament of those young guns and birmed in pride after they lifted the trophy with an unreal unbeaten streak.

“The whole country and BCCI are proud of our Under-19 side on their Under-19 World Cup 2026 victory. The way our team defeated England in the finals, and how they remained undefeated in the tournament, we are all proud. The BCCI will reward the team with Rs 7.5 crore cash prize,” he said.

A dominant victory rewrites the record books

Since the beginning of the tournament, Team India’s form has been outstanding as they reached the final without facing a single defeat in the entire edition. While they dominated throughout the competition, the best was saved for the summit clash. Taking on England Under-19 in the ultimate showdown, India delivered a performance that redefined dominance.

Batting first, Aaron George walked away early, but Vaibhav Suryavanshi and captain Ayush Mhatre’s partnership turned the tide. Even after Mhatre’s dismissal, Suryavanshi continued his fluent assault, finding solid support from the rest of the batting line-up. Riding on that dominance, India piled up a mammoth total of 411 runs.

When they came to defend the total, the England Under-19 side didn’t let it become a one-sided contest. After the top order batters gave a promising start, Caleb Falconer’s exceptional innings of 115 runs in just 65 balls pushed them closer to the target, but the Indian bowlers ended the hope as India secured the title with a massive 100-run victory.

Suryavanshi emerges as the star of the night

The cricket world is already well aware of 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s rage, but the final clash of the Under-19 World Cup saw the most destructive version of it. Coming to open the innings, the young prodigy looked unstoppable since the very first delivery. After George departed early, Suryavanshi took control since then.

Completing a fifty in 32 balls, he slammed an outstanding hundred in just 55 deliveries. As the English bowlers hunted for a breakthrough, he kept piling on the runs, touching 150 in 71 balls. Finally, in the 26th over, Lumsden struck, ending Suryavanshi’s sublime innings of 175 runs off 80 balls.
