England Under-19 thumped Pakistan in a low-scoring contest to start off their U19 World Cup 2026 campaign on a comprehensive note. Pakistan captain Farhan Yousaf charged on with a courageous 65, but lack of support from others enabled English bowlers to sneak in a 37-run win.
Here, we take a look at the entire highlights from the fourth match of the 2026 ICC Under-19 World Cup between Pakistan U19 and England U19, as it panned out at the Takashinga Sports Club in Harare on Friday, January 16.
Ahmed Hussain wrecks England top-order, Falconer lifts team to 210
The England Under-19 team started off with a 33-run opening partnership between Ben Dawkins and Joseph Moores, until the latter nicked one behind towards Pakistan wicketkeeper Hamza Zahoor off 17-year-old fast bowler Ali Raza for just seven. His partner Dawkins unleashed some cracking strokes in his enterprising 38-ball 33 to steer England past the 50-run mark.
Pakistan leg-spinner Ahmed Hussain struck back for the ‘Boys in Green’ with the wickets of a well-set Dawkins, as well as that of number three Ben Mayes in quick succession as England slipped to 67-3 around 15 overs. Captain Thomas Rew (14 off 21) also failed to lead England’s recovery as the wicketkeeper-batter got toppled by young paceman Abdul Subhan at 90-4.
Caleb Falconer at number five composed a fighting 66 from 73 balls with three fours and two huge sixes to anchor the England Under-19 innings to a respectable 210 in 46.5 overs. The middle-order batter forged an 80-run partnership with Ralphie Albert (25 off 37) before late wickets from Ali Raza (2-36), Abdul Subhan (2-24) and left-arm spinner Momin Qamar (2-45) tilted the tide back in Pakistan’s favour.
Ahmed Hussain, who claimed the huge wickets of Dawkins and Mayers earlier in the innings, also knocked over a well-set Ralphie Albert to snare sensational figures of 3-38 from his 10 overs.
Farhan Yousaf’s 65 goes in vain as England bowlers tower over Pakistan
Chasing 211 for a win, Pakistan Under-19 lost each of their top three batters for just 28 on the board in 8.2 overs. England quick Alex Green struck with two of those wickets, that of both Pakistan openers Sameer Minhas and Mohammad Shayan to claim impressive figures of 2-21. Usman Khan at number three got trapped in front by James Minto for just six, before number four Ahmed Hussain got toppled by Farhan Ahmed (1-37) for 12 off 34 balls as Pakistan slipped to 54-4.
Pakistan captain Farhan Yousaf at number five led his team from the front with a courageous 65-run knock from 86 balls with three fours and four huge sixes. However, with tumbling wickets at the other end, the only notable assistance Yousaf received at the crease was through fast bowler Abdul Subhan (14 off 38), who crafted a fighting 48-run partnership for the seventh wicket before running himself out.
Momin Qamar scored a cautious 18* while batting with the tail, but Pakistan U19 eventually bundled out for just 173 in 46.3 overs to fall 37 runs short of their target. For England, Green, Minto and Ralphie Albert all picked up a couple of wickets each.
