Dhruv Jurel scored a fighting century against Sri Lanka on Day 2. Yashasvi Jaiswal has been punished by the ICC for his heated faceoff with Sri Lanka players. In other news, the ECB has dropped fast bowler Brydon Carse from the squad for the upcoming second Test against Pakistan.

Dhruv Jurel tons up, Rishabh Pant picks up new injury

Indian wicketkeepers Dhruv Jurel and Rishabh Pant had a field day against Sri Lanka on Day 2 in Colombo. While Jurel scored 115* off 177 balls to notch up his second Test century, Pant picked up a new injury in the form of shoulder pain.

Rishabh also suffered a wrist injury on Day 1, but later arrived to the crease to resume his innings to score a fiery 63 off 89 balls with six boundaries and two sixes as India mounted 503-9d in 138 overs.

ICC punishes Yashasvi Jaiswal and Asitha Fernando

Indian opener batter Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sri Lanka bowler Asitha Fernando have both been punished by the ICC for their on-field altercation on the opening day of their series-deciding second Test match at the SSC Ground in Colombo. 

Both cricketers have been fined 25 percent of their match fees, and also received one demerit point each. The two players also accepted the sanctions as imposed by match referee Andy Pycroft.

Ibrahim Zadran to lead Afghanistan against India

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has unveiled a strong 15-player squad for the upcoming ‘home’ T20I series against India in Delhi. Ibrahim Zadran will lead the side, and he will be joined by legendary Afghanistan names like Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Noor Ahmad and Azmatullah Omarzai.

Namibia, Zimbabwe announce squads for T20I tri-series

Both Cricket Namibia and Zimbabwe Cricket have unveiled squads for the Namibia and Zimbabwe cricket teams respectively for the upcoming T20I tri-series in Windhoek involving South Africa.

Legendary all-rounder Gerhard Erasmus will lead the hosts in the seven-match series, and he will also be joined by fellow star performers like JJ Smit, Jan Frylinck, Zane Green among others. For Zimbabwe, Sikandar Raza will continue to lead the national side. 

England drop Brydon Carse from second Test vs Pakistan

The ECB has decided to drop fast bowler Brydon Carse from the England squad for the upcoming second Test of the series against Pakistan at Lord’s in London. The board confirmed the decision in light of Carse’s controversial handcuffs video from Derby that went viral this past weekend. 

The ECB also stated that they are still investigating the incident and Carse will likely remain sidelined until they can obtain “full facts” of the controversy.
