David Warner led the Pakistan Super League franchise Karachi Kings in the 2026 edition. Although his captaincy faltered blatantly, with the team being kicked out of the group stage, bagging only 10 points, he was happy with the results as he shared an appreciation post for the team.
Under the same post shared by Warner on his official Instagram handle, an Indian fan requested the Australian legend to come back and play the Indian Premier League (IPL) again, a format which he left in 2024. To everyone’s surprise, David Warner replied shockingly to the fan’s comment as he prioritised PSL.
Why David Warner Left IPL Even After Leading SRH To 2016 Win?
Warner, a former captain of the franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad, was one of the most successful captains of the team as well.
He is the only captain who led SRH to their maiden title win in 2016 and led the team for five seasons before an internal break-up led SRH to release the player in 2022.
Warner was appointed in 2015 for SRH and led the team for three consecutive seasons. He was reinstated as captain in 2020 as he took over from Kane Williamson and also led the team to the playoffs, but was replaced midway through the 2021 season after a poor track record with wins.
To be more specific, Warner captained SRH for 67 matches in the IPL and won 35 out of them, sharing a win percentage of approximately 52.2%.

Warner Left Out In Auction
However, Warner was very much hurt because of his removal as captain in the 2021 season. These differences with the SRH management led to Warner not being retained for the IPL 2022 season as well.
After his release from SRH, David Warner played for Delhi Capitals for three seasons, and after going unsold in 2025, he didn't register himself for the auction in the 2026 edition as he chose PSL 2026 instead.
What Did Warner Say About IPL Return?
After the conclusion of PSL 2026 for David Warner and co., the Australian veteran took to his official Instagram handle to share some beautiful moments with the team.
Taking to his official Instagram handle, Warner posted a series of photos of himself and his team, Karachi Kings, during his time in the camp.
With a solid appreciation post and a very long caption that spoke of the camaraderie he shared with his teammates and the dedication of the franchise to the tournament as well, Warner wished everyone all the best for the future while also praising the hospitality of Pakistan.
Under this post, an Indian fan commented, "It's better for you to quit PSL and return back in IPL." Replying to the comment, Warner was firm yet concise with his response as he shared his intention not to come back to the Indian league again. "No need for that now," David Warner replied under the comment of the Indian fan on his post.
Warner's Solid Wrapo With PSL Franchise
This concludes the fact that Warner, who played 184 matches in the Indian Premier League, will not be making his return to the tournament anytime soon, with his future ventures likely to continue with the Pakistan Super League.
For the unaware, Warner led Karachi Kings in 18 matches and has a solid track record with 11 wins from them, losing only 7 games. This highlights his successful leadership for the franchise, as he boasts a win percentage of 61.11% for the one-time PSL-winning team.
