Mustafizur Rahman, who was banned from the IPL 2026 due to the deteriorating India-Bangladesh relationship, got a golden opportunity to prove his worth. It seems the IPL teams, in particular the owners, have not cut ties with him just yet.
The 30-year-old left-arm pacer has represented five IPL teams so far – Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Mumbai Indians (MI), Delhi Capitals (DC), Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) was supposed to be his sixth IPL team, as the Venky Mysore-led side splurged INR 9.20 Crore on him in the last auction.
Yet Mustafizur could not play for the Purple and Gold Brigade, and the situation worsened after Bangladesh withdrew from the T20 World Cup 2026.
The Hundred Teams Open Doors For Mustafizur Rahman
England’s top-tier franchise league, The Hundred, will have their first-ever auction ahead of the upcoming edition. The dates and the venue are fixed: on March 11 and March 12 in London. Mustafizur confirmed his availability by registering for a competition where no Bangladesh player had previously represented.
Mustafizur was among 23 Bangladesh players for the Hundred Auction, where four teams – MI London (known as Oval Invincibles earlier), Manchester Super Giants (formerly known as Manchester Originals), Sunrisers Leeds (formerly known as Northern Superchargers), and Southern Brave (49% owned by GMR/Delhi Capitals franchise).

The 23-member list included many household names such as Litton Das, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Taskin Ahmed, Rishad Hossain and Mehidy Hasan Miraz, among others. Yet only Rishad made the final cut along with Mustafizur to go under the hammer.
Mustafizur Rahman Sets £100,000 Base Price
Mustafizur will be up for grabs for a whopping £100,000 – the highest base price category for the The Hundred auction players. On the other hand, Rishad has a base price of £75,000 – the second-highest reserve base price.
Meanwhile, the remaining 21 Bangladesh players, who failed to get their names in the final draft list for The Hundred Auction, all had a base price of £31,000.
When Will The Hundred 2026 Begin?
Over 200 players, including men and women, will be in The Hundred Auction among 16 teams when the bidding wars take place on March 11 and March 12. As officially announced, The Hundred competition will get underway on July 21, with MI London and Sunrisers Leeds going up against each other to kick off the proceedings.
The tournament finals will take place at The Lord’s on Sunday, August 16, with the Eliminators to be played at The Oval on August 14.
Last year, MI-owned Oval Invincibles won The Hundred men's competition, defeating Trent Rockets in the final. In the women’s competition, Sunrisers Leeds beat Southern Brave by seven wickets to secure the title.
