Imran Khan is in prison in Pakistan and his case remains in the spotlight. His supporters say his arrest is politically driven, while the government says the legal process is being followed. People across the country continue to talk about his situation.

Recently, Khan has faced serious eye problems in jail. His family and lawyers say he has lost most of the vision in one eye and needs proper treatment from doctors of his choice. Prison authorities say he is receiving care, but there is disagreement over how well his condition is being treated and whether independent doctors should examine him.

Despite being behind bars, Khan still has many supporters who speak up for him. His situation has sparked political debates and protests, with people demanding fair treatment and transparency about his health.

In a surprising move, many former cricket stars from his playing days have now signed a petition asking the Pakistani government to ensure he gets good medical care. The petition reportedly includes Indian cricket legends Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev, showing support from both former teammates and rivals.

Greg Chappell Leads Global Cricket Appeal for Imran Khan

Former Australian captain Greg Chappell took the initiative to write and circulate a petition urging the Pakistan government to ensure better prison treatment for Imran Khan. The appeal was signed by 14 former international captains from five Test nations, reflecting serious concern for the 73-year-old’s health and well-being while in custody.

As reported by The Age, in the petition, the former captains highlighted Imran Khan’s worsening health, especially his eyesight. “Recent reports concerning his health, particularly the alarming deterioration of his vision while in custody, have caused us profound concern,” they wrote, pointing to the conditions of his imprisonment over the past two and a half years.

Calling on shared cricketing values, the captains stressed dignity and humanity. “As fellow cricketers who understand the values of fair play, honour, and respect,” the letter said, they believe Imran Khan deserves humane treatment. They urged the Pakistan government to allow immediate and proper medical care from specialists of his choice.

Sunil Gavaskar Among Global Voices Supporting Imran Khan

Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar has emerged as one of the strongest international voices backing Imran Khan. A respected commentator and former captain, Gavaskar’s support adds significant weight to the growing global appeal by former cricketers urging the Pakistan government to ensure better medical care and humane prison treatment for Khan.

Speaking about his long association with Imran Khan, Gavaskar said, “It’s terrible what they are doing to him. We have been friends since he was trying to qualify as an overseas player for Worcestershire and not just rivals on the field.” His remarks underline both personal friendship and deep concern.

The petition has also been signed by India's former World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev along with Australian captains Allan Border, Steve Waugh, Ian Chappell, Belinda Clark and Kim Hughes. England’s Mike Atherton, Nasser Hussain, Mike Brearley and David Gower, plus Clive Lloyd and John Wright, have all joined the united appeal for Imran Khan.
