Indian cricket is currently going through a fever over the Bihar-born Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. After his wonders in the toughest T20, the Indian Premier League, the 15-year-old batter has been fast-tracked to the Indian set-up.
Currently, the teenager is playing for India A in the Tri-Nation A Series 2026 and could soon be seen wearing the Indian jersey. Sooryavanshi has earned his maiden India call-up for the T20I series against Ireland & England, as well as for the Asian Games 2026.
If Sooryavanshi gets the chance to make his debut in the upcoming series, he will break Sachin Tendulkar's longest-running 37-year record to become the youngest-ever cricketer to don the Indian jersey.
Bihar grooms next Vaibhav Sooryavanshi
After grooming Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Bihar are set to develop yet another teenage star who might serve India well.
The 14-year-old Akshara Gupta, an upcoming sensation from Bihar's East Champaran district, has smacked an unbeaten triple century in the ongoing the BCA Women’s U-19 One-Day Tournament.
She has slammed a 306* off just 126 balls at the Sandis Compound Ground in Bhagalpur on Thursday.

Her carnage included 42 fours and 16 sixes, as she took to reach her fifty in just 19 balls and notched her century in a span of 34 balls.
The teenager was in touching distance from breaking Mumbai's Ira Gupta's record of 346* runs, but missed it by a whisker.
The Bihar prodigy's unbeaten 306 off 126 balls now stands second, just behind Ira Gupta’s 346*, as the highest individual score in women’s domestic cricket.
Who is Akshara Gupta?
Known for his spellbinding left-handed batting, Akshara Gupta is a lovely player of pace bowling, who never backs down from playing her strokes.
Her journey began when she led Bihar’s Under-19 team at the age of just 14 years, before seeing a meteoric rise to the state's senior team.
Although experts often question her fitness and running between the wickets, Gupta is an India prospect.
Bihar being talent's factory in recent years
The Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) President Harshvardhan and Secretary Ziaul Arfin also extended their best wishes to Akshara Gupta, calling her success the state’s growth in the field of cricket.
In recent times, the BCA has developed a bunch of cricketers who have the ability to become international-level athletes.
Quite recently, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi brought the world to its awe, whereas Sakib Hussain was equally good in his own right while representing SRH in the IPL.
Apart from the Sooryavanshi and Hussain, the state has also groomed notable cricketers such as Ishan Kishan, Zeeshan Ansari, Akash Deep, Mukesh Kumar and Anukul Roy.
Despite having a truckload of talent, cricketers often leave the state to pursue their cricketing journeys and head to other states, which can offer them better infrastructure and structure.
